Will this open to a true 90 degree angle? I need them for 13 inch coffee table legs

I want to connect 2 levers with a strip of wood/metal rod so pushing on either lever unlocks both hinges at once. Do you think this is going to work?

Is there a way to loosen the hinge? I cannot open one of the hinges and the other is so tight it would rip the wood.
