Better than regular lamp oil
I was hesitant to purchase this product but have since put it in all my lamps. I ran it for a week this summer in three lamps and never really noticed a smell. Even if there is one, for me, the pros outweigh any cons. This oil burns *clean*. It doesn't smoke up my glass globes no matter how high I have the wick. More importantly, it doesn't set off my fire alarms which regular lamp oil will do in a closed up room in less than an hour.

Distinct Odor
This product does burn great and burns HOT; HOWEVER it has a distinct oder that progressively gets worse. At first, one doesn't notice it unless you stick your nose above the flame, but in 20 min it had filled the room. I was going to use this in a centerpiece with floating candles but after testing it with one and it made my house stink, I couldn't imagine how 200 of them would smell after 1 hour.Another point I would make is that I place 4 wicks in the same container (Floating candle wicks) which eventually clung close together and made one flame. Shortly after that, because it burns so hot, the oil had become very hot and caused whole glass burn even after removing the wicks. I know that this wasn't probably what this oil was made for but I thought I would try, and well it didn't work.....

Ugg. In the trash it goes
Gotta agree with E Tomlinson's review -- wish it had been posted when I ordered this stuff. It just smells terrible. Not just a vegetable-y smell, but also some kind of flowery scent that I find unbearable, as well. Sort of like Vegetable Oil and cheap table wax mixed together. Unfortunately I spilled a little of it when I was trying to fill my lantern and I've been scrubbing and scrubbing to try to get rid of the smell.

Works fine in my oil lit lamps
I was happy to find this product, it is more environmental friendly than kerosene. It burns fine. It isn't odorless.

Great green product
I use an oil lamp regularly while meditating, and this oil burns cleanly and without smelling. It's also great to know I'm not using a petroleum product. Supporting the environment in little ways!

MORE PROBLEMS
Along with some of the other problems discovered with this product (evaporation, smell, etc.) I have discovered something far more troubling. I have a number of lamps I keep around the house, mostly as decoration, but I put them to use when needed. I usually leave the fonts full and have found that over time along with the evaporation problem there is some sort of chemical reaction which forms a blue crust on the underside, and in the works, of the burner unit. It is very difficult to remove and very noxious to the eyes and nostrils. If you leave your lamps full when not in use DO NOT use this product.

STINKY!
OK, I'm not giving this a one star rating because I agree that this stuff "burns" clean, in that it doesn't give off smoke...which I like...HOWEVER (and this is a big however)this stuff smells terrible. It's a sickly sweet smell that can be completely overwhelming. We have this in a kerosene style lamp on our kitchen table and I can smell the stuff even when the lamp isn't lit. And a few times when we've blown it out and part of the wick kept burning for a few seconds afterward, that sweet, nasty smell filled the whole upstairs of the house. It's really ghastly, makes feel nauseated even to think about it.I know it's less toxic, but I think I prefer regular old kerosene to this stuff. We're going to keep it for emergencies but it won't stay on our table...I just can't bring myself to try and pour the stuff out that's in the lamp right now because it smells so gross. It's not just me either, my husband thinks it's nasty too. I would LOVE this stuff if it weren't for that smell!

good
I like the fact that this product is eco friendly, especially after learning that paraffin can be toxic. It has a strong sweet odor when you blow the candle out and fill your candles.
