Q: Why are there three sizes and why does the photo show the earring wire sticking out of the end if they are supposed to protect your kneck.

The size large covers the whole post. Size small teh post will probably stick out depending on the earring. Some people want small backs that dont show much and some people would rather know the post will forsure be covered. Also the medium and large act as support for drooping earrings and protect the lobes from stretching

Yes they are good tight backs that stay. They are surrounded by the silicone which makes them secure and easy to use.

good grip comfortable to wear and easy to put on. Bought them as the original for a pair of earrings I had would not stay on
