Beautiful story, wonderfully illustrated and hugely inspirational
This is a beautiful book... other reviewers have mentioned that there is the possibility to scare your children with some of the alien references. My four year old daughter is terrified of the dark and the shadows and has an incredibly overactive imagination so I approached this one carefully. When we came to the page in question I didn't draw any more attention to the creatures than I had to but she was so absorbed in the story that she barely batted an eyelid. The story follows Chris as a child in the run up to witnessing the 1969 moon landings and his childhood dreams enacted out in his own imagination as a child. It is a truly beautiful, inspiring story that left me with a tear in my eye and a warm fuzzy feeling of determination that I must do whatever I can to ensure that my own children will also reach for the stars.

Inspiring book. Inspiring author.
A beautifully illustrated book, with an inspiring message. What more could you ask? We were lucky enough to meet Chris Hadfield and have our book signed. He has a winning way with children, and my four year old daughter was enthralled. His message to children, and to adults, is wonderfully positive, and worth discovering for yourself.I bought a second copy from Amazon to present to my daughter's nursery on World Book Day, to help inspire all her friends to great things.

Wonderful book
This is a wonderful and inspirational book. To be honest I bought it because I saw Chris Hadfield giving an interview and he was so interesting and honest about the book I thought I'd buy it for my baby granddaughter. I'm really glad I did as it's a superb example of a great book for a child. It also addresses the issue of "the dark" in a very positive way.

A beautiful story about dreams coming true!
My 4 year old son loves this book, and I have noticed his 10 and 11 year old brothers listening in too! My little one requests this every night at story time, and i love reading it. I love the message it sends about following your dreams. We normally read the story and then watch one of Chris Hadfields YouTube videos about life in space.

Love this book
Really like this book, my 4 year old says he wants to be an astronaut (as I imagine most do!) so I bought him this to inspire him, and show him he can follow his dreams. Lovely book.

Motivational story
Very nice inspirational story about overcoming fear of the dark for children age 4 to 7. Great for those interested in space. At the end is a couple of pages on the real life adventures of the astronaut author which 7 yr olds can probably read. Nicely illustrated with drawings and some space photos.

Personally I love the book
Personally I love the book. However, my almost three year old who wasn't scared of the dark, is now terrified of the dark after reading it to him twice. The aliens and shadows were terrifying for him sadly. Buying online and then wrapping immediately meant I didn't get chance to vet the book beforehand. Lesson learnt! Will keep it until he is older I think.
