Excellent value for money.
Excellent value for money. Base is more solid than expected and picture quality is very good. The compression used (MPEG) to allow streaming is quite lossy but stills are ok. However, its certainly good enough to see what's going on when working on circuit boards (smd etc.) The software supplied is, quite frankly, useless but I use MICAM software so it's not a problem.Very easy to use, worked straight from the box on Windows 10. Camera and stand feel substantial and good quality. Focus feels positive and fine adjustment can be achieved through the use of the up/down turn-wheels on the stand. The slide clips hold my pcbs quite firmly and allow me to work without slippage. The variable illumination LEDs work well and this unit comes with a transparent ruler so can be used for accurate work too.It does exactly what I need and, when I'm not using it, the kids love it...

Every time I use it, I have to re-calibrate it, which is a considerable nuisance. Otherwise, it works all right.

Excellent, neat and useful.
Very happy with this. Running with Linux Mint 17.3 and native apps rather than the CDROM software. Both video and still capture fine at various resolutions up to the 5MP limit specified. Handy and fun device.

Save your money and my a real one.....
I thought spending over two times the amount on a digital microscope compared to the £15 to £20 ones you would see a difference. But after comparing this to a friends cheaper similar item it actually lost rather badly. It states up to a 300x magnification....it's nowhere near that. I have seen things under a 100x true microscope and the suggested 300x is nowhere near. These would be OK for the grand kids looking at things like stamps, coins and leaves etc that will bring the images up on a screen for them. But if they wanted to see real microscopic things that move in say some algae, get a real microscope with maybe a camera attachment on it so that they can still view it via a monitor and they would probably be more impressed and likely to enjoy it more so.
