A rating: 10 Days in 90+ degree rainy weather across Europe
Tl;dr - 230lb man on my feet for 10 days across Europe in 90+ degree heat, heavy rain several days, and 10+ miles of walking a day - zero issues. Carrying a heavy backpack full of a complete set of Scuba gear all day, and trekking through the Rain Forrest’s of Costa Rica were also handled with ease. Solid, throughly tested piece of equipment - but with confidence. Our Europe trip had a dark cloud over it - a storm system was moving through Hungary and Austria during our planned vacation. Having had stellar experience with Keen in the past, I looked for a last minute waterproof, yet breathable shoe for the 10 day adventure and settled on this shoe. I ordered it on Amazon Prime, and it showed up just in time for the trip. I didn’t have time to break the shoe in, and wore it the next day to the airport as the only pair of shoes I brought on the trip. The shoes are comfortable, light, absolutely waterproof, have solid traction for on and off road excursions - and they breathe well. Keep in mind, this is a waterproof shoe - if you expect it to breathe like a pair of crocs, or a knit running shoe - those aren’t reasonable expectations. It breathes far better than a pair of leather shoes, and will out perform (breathability) most traditional running/walking shoes that aren’t specifically designed to have high levels of breathability. Given that this is a waterproof shoe - that’s a big deal…. But again, have reasonable expectations.Despite nearly every day being 90+ degrees with tropical levels of humidity, these shoes (with quality wool socks) were never uncomfortably hot and were essentially a non-issue.I’m always impressed with the quality of Keen products, and this continues the trend. I wish they made a “made in America” option for this style of shoe - as their American made lines are a meaningful and worthwhile investment in heightened levels of quality - but I digress. This shoe outperformed my expectations, and was an absolute treat to travel with. Highly recommend.

Comfortable, light, rugged, attractive
The media could not be loaded. These shoes are great. Weight of a motion control sneaker but the registry of a trail shoe with nice toe protection. I have not yet tested for waterproofing but will report back. The construction and quality of materials seems superior.Toe box isn’t quite as wide as keen hiking boots, but still more forgiving than mainstream running or athletic shoes.Easy to get on and off. Primary usage is a travel outdoor shoe and will put through the paces on a summer Alaska cruise with lots of excursions planned.

Comfortable fit, well made, expensive
These shoes are what you're probably thinking they are. They're very comfortable, fit well (to-size -- I wear the same size in Keen and Merrell), have an extra roomy toe box without the heel being loose (which I love), supportive enough for all-day hikes, and the waterproofing works well. They're well made, and light-weight with a very grippy outsole. However, they're on-par with the Merrell Moab 2 hiking shoes I also have. They're the only other comparable full-tilt hiking shoe I've owned, so I can only compare them to each other. Both are phenomenal shoes, the most comfortable I've ever worn. The NXIS may be slightly more comfortable than the Moab, but almost negligibly so, both have about equal traction in all terrains, and the Moab has slightly longer outsole lugs, which means they probably will end up lasting longer before traction starts to degrade. Either one is way more comfortable, and has much higher longevity (both lug depth and durability), than the Solomon hikers I had previously. The bottom line, to me, is the price. These are about 40% more expensive than the equivalent Moab 2 shoes are, which are already somewhat pricey. Are they better than the Moab? Maybe. Probably. Are they $50 / 40% better than the Moab? Not at all.So if money is no object and you like the look of these better, get them. If you want to be seen in the 'more expensive' shoe (for what that's worth in your circle), get them. But you probably won't notice any advantage at all over the Moab for your money.

Nice but narrow
Good light day hiker. They breathe well, very waterproof (hiked 1/2mi in a shallow stream), light and are almost sneaker like but with more support. The issue I have with them is that they are narrow. I normally wear a wide sneaker but knowing Kenn run wide and wide sizes were not available I gave medium width. If I wear my lightest hiking (Smartwool tuning “targeted cushion”) sock they are tight but okay, but if I wear even a light cushion hiking sock they are painful.I have worn them on 1-2 small hikes and 1 seven mile hike in the past 8 months but I am going to have to give up on them and fine a Keen that comes in wide like their Targhee series even though I know I will not like the added weight.

Will buy again
Although more expensive than what I would usually pay for a sneaker, these shoes are worth every penny. Comfortable, waterproof they feel great on my foot, plenty of room in the tow box. I recommend these shoes to all the people I work with and who comment on them.
