Creative fun for guitarists
You can make creative picks for yourselves, and/or make creative picks for fellow guitarists. What a nifty idea that's so simple!

Easy to use
This is so much easier to use than my previous pick punches. Would definitely buy again!

Works well. Neat kit, but probably will still buy pre-made picks.
This pick punch kit works essentially like a hole puncher. You slip the plastic sheet into the mouth of the puncher and depress the spring-loaded arm/plunger. It works surprisingly well, with relatively little pressure to punch out a fairly clean pick from the included plastic sheets. The sheets themselves all seem to be the same thickness but do have some varying textures and patterns. However, the sheets seem to just be pretty straight forward plastic. Being a fairly serious player, I went through a lot of pre-made picks from all the known brands to figure out which picks I prefer for each guitar, with a very firm and small Tortex pick being my preferred for my electric, and a medium weight, relatively large nylon pick for my acoustic. I also have preferred bevels and geometry which are hard to get from this kit. So with that said, this kit is really neat and fun, but I will likely continue to buy pre-made picks. For the price of a special sheet, I can probably get two sets of pre-made picks. However, this is a fun kit for the kids or perhaps in a pinch, when you lose all your pre-made picks (just grab your least favorite credit card and punch away).

Easy to use
Perfect size for my 10 year old granddaughter, she loves the different colors of the slides to make the picks. Great gift. You use it like you would a hole puncher, very easy

Fun Gadget!
I have to admit it's fun being able to make your own guitar picks. The punch itself is heavier than I expected and seems very well made. I was also a little bit surprised at how easy it was to squeeze the trigger to punch out a pick—of course, that depends on how strong a grip you have, but for me it didn't take much effort at all.The strips you punch the picks from are colorful and you'll get a lot of picks from them, but the strips that come with it make a pretty heavy pick. My go-to picks are D'Addarrio .70mm, which is right in the middle of the medium range for pick thickness. I'd guess these are at least .90mm, but I have no way to measure them. I do know they are noticeably heavier and less flexible than my medium picks. If you like heavy picks these will be right up your alley, or down your fretboard, whatever. The pick strips come in two textures, smooth or matte (eight smooth and seven matte is what I had). The matte texture feels odd (I've only used smooth picks before) and makes more noise across the strings. I didn't like them at all, but if you lose your pick often as you play you might like that added texture. The guitar shape keychain pick holder is a nice addition, although I will probably just keep it in my case. The emery board is nice to have, but the picks I punched out needed very little smoothing. I suppose with use the cuts may not be as clean and the emery board will be needed more—just speculating with that.I would have liked to seen variety in the thickness of the pick strips and I could have done without the matte pick strips altogether. I can't really fault the product for that though, as those are just personal preferences, so this gets my top rating.

Fun gift!
My college aged daughter plays guitar and she was thrilled with this kit. Fun craft for a guitar player.

Fun for kids or novelty use
I think this is a really cool product and my kid agrees. It's easy to use and a great way to repurpose your old credit or loyalty cards. I can't see a serious/advanced player using these as their preferred picks though. I mean most pre-made picks have options for bevels and different weights of materials and so on and so forth. These aren't that. These are fun to make and fun to play with if you're a kid who's going to lose picks every few minutes. They'd even be a fun thing to make to toss at groupies when you want to keep your real picks for yourself. But for what it is, it's a good one. I'm glad we have it to play with but I still have to buy my kid picks for class.

Tougher than it looks.
Depending on how "picky" you are, this is either a great way to make your own picks, or it is a great way to cut out promotional picks. (pun intended)The kit comes with eight strips of glossy stock and seven strips of matte. There is the cutter, a pick holding keychain, and an emery board. My first thought was "my fingernails aren't THAT bad are they... after cutting out the first pick I realized it was for smoothing the edges. They weren't sharp or ragged, but with a couple passes across the file they were extra smooth. The included strips are a little thicker than I like my picks. My favorite is the Dunlop Delrin 500 Prime Grip 46... just for reference. I did punch a few out of a piece of plastic "poster board", the kind you can buy at almost any store. It is for crafts or making signs that won't deteriorate in the weather. That has about the right flex. You could cut picks from old credit cards, card keys, drivers license, or a plastic milk jug.The press allows you to view the pick (one side) before you press to cut it. This will make it easy for lining up custom printed sheets for cutting.I also appreciate that the punch is well built. The upper and lower covers are plastic, but the metal handle and base are between the two covers. The die itself seems to be sharp and solid. I'm not sure how long it will stay sharp, but I guess that depends on what type of material you run through it. I wouldn't run paper, cardboard, or thin metal sheets through it. It seems like they would dull the edges of the die pretty quickly. This is a fun press for any music lover. With the right material you can have some fun making usable custom picks.
