Great Sci-Fi type series.
Elements of comedy & some great one-liners accompanied by the exceptional talent of John Noble (Walter Bishop).I have watched this entire Series several times on various TV channels, but jumped at the chance of owning it on Blu-ray when it was made available at a much reduced price.A must watch Series, with weird and wonderful fictional events, which may be perhaps a glimpse into our own bleak future. This is a Sci-Fi drama which truly deserved to have run on for much longer and, like many fans, I live secretly in the hope of a revival of this much loved and very quirky drama / comedic fiction, but highly functional Sci-Fi Series. Some exceptional writing, directorial talent & cinematography.John Noble, Joshua Jackson, what more could you ask for. Anna Torv is very easy to watch too, hmmmm 😘❤️🧡💛

Brilliant show made beautiful through blu-ray, should have put it in a nicer dress though
The show: 5/5Simply the best Sci-Fi show this side of the millennium; a worthy successor to The X-Files with an excellent cast and (at least generally) a better sense of where it was going. The packaging: 3/5The outer container is good and simple, a thick card box containing 5 standard size Amaray blu-ray cases with the swing-style extra disc holders. As some have mentioned, you need to be careful to pick it up from the bottom if you keep it on a shelf, and I also don't like that both the sides have pictures of the front covers of all the discs on it instead of just a tasteful logo like on the front.I also have a serious problem with the packaging for season 5: instead of printing off an insert to contain a list of the episodes on the discs, synopsis and runtimes etc. like with the first 4 seasons, they printed it on the BACK OF THE COVER, so you have to remove the cover from the case if you want to read them (the blue case makes it difficult, even if you remove the third disc, and then parts of it are obscured by the disc holder)An admittedly milder complaint is with the menus on the discs too: the first two seasons have a loop of the Fringe theme, but it's at a horribly low bitrate and sounds awful, like someone's playing it through a phone or something. Later seasons went very fancy with the menus, especially season 5 which Cyberlink PowerDVD couldn't play (probably because it has HD video playing on the menus).

Superb
Every single episode opens with an anomaly that grips your attention. Series 1 & 2 were fantastic however there was quite a dramatic change in style and writing from series 3 (imo). It wasn't a bad change but it felt as though the writer's were struggling a bit. It is a series where everything is explained to the viewer and there were some strange moments when two metronomes were plucked out of 'mid air' in an ultra modern office setting to explain a complicated idea. I mean, who has 2 metronomes hanging around in their office. It also happened with two snow globes to explain away a paradox. I suppose when writers are dealing with time travel paradoxes, ideas get very complex, and they sometimes dug themselves into a ditch with no way out.The acting was absolutely superb, especially by John Noble. That guy should have been nominated for an Oscar. He really did act his pants off right from the get go until the very last episode. Anna Torv acted superbly and stole my heart from minute 1!The sound and picture quality were excellent. The special effects were excellent too.If you love sci fi you will really enjoy this.

A quality Sci-Fi series
Fringe is the only production ever to have JJ Abrams name attached to it that is worth your time and that's probably because he had limited involvement because he was busy with his risible Star Trek movies.Abrams is famous for his "mystery box" story threads that draw you in, but he's equally famous for never bothering to figure out the answers to them leaving viewers immensely frustrated. In that respect Fringe is an exception, again probably because of the involvement of more talented people who actually care about giving people a satisfying story. The show is populated with interesting characters, none more so than Walter Bishop, played wonderfully by John Noble. Walter is not just one of the greatest characters in a science fiction/fantasy show, but one of the greatest characters in all of TV history. At first it feels a bit like the X-files, but it evolves into so much more as we're given a story arc full of twists and turns. The final season doesn't live up to those that went before it, but it does have conclusion rather than ending on a cliffhanger.Overall Fringe is one of the very best science fiction series.

This review is about the product
Collectors box & each individual DVD case came in great condition. All off the DVDs played well, no problems, no complaints. Regarding the show, I love it! I've watched it before on TV and decided to buy the complete series on Blu-ray to re-watch with my 14yr old daughter, she loved it as well, this is an awesome show! I would recommend this show if you enjoy science fiction.

Make sure to order for your correct region
Great delivery time, order arrived a week earlier than expected. As an uneducated Canadian, you may be surprised to learn that blu-rays have region codes. Luckily there are ways to get around this, and unintentionally learn how to bypass DVD player security systems because that's a thing.
