It didn't work for my tyre inflator
Unfortunately, I did not test this product when received, and by the time I did the returns window had closed. I wanted it for a tyre inflator which works perfectly well when plugged into my car, but failed to work when plugged into this converter (it worked momentarily but immediately cut out).If you order one, I recommend testing it as soon as you receive it to check it does what it says it does.

Useful high current 12V power supply
The HKY 110V-240V AC Mains to 12V DC Car Cigarette Lighter Adapter enables you to power any gadget that you would normally plug into the car’s cigarette lighter socket from the AC mains. I don’t know why you would want to do that though. The adapter is well made, it comes with a “figure of 8” mains cable which has a 5A fuse fitted in the UK plug, the adapter has some weight to it which is always a good sign and the captive lead containing the cigarette lighter socket is of adequate thickness for the stated current. The adapter is specified to handle up to 84W of power, so I tried using my automatic tyre inflator in it, unfortunately there is no indication on the tyre inflator as to how much current it takes, so I used a mains power meter to monitor the input power instead, which will always be higher than the output power because no voltage converter is 100% efficient. The power meter indicated that 79W of power was being taken from the mains and the adapter had no issues powering the tyre inflator with that sort of power. This is not something that I would use to power devices that run from the car battery unless my battery was flat, however I cold see it being useful if you had a cooler that you wanted to chill before putting food in it and then taking it to the car.I will be using it to power some US consoles that work from 120V only are a 12V car adapter, plus it will allow me to test car cigarette USB chargers in the house instead of in the limited space in a car. It is also useful as a 12V power supply for electronic projects because I already have a plug that fits with wires going to a terminal block.

Works fine for my tyre inflator
The 12v pocket socket in my car is tempramental and doesn't always work, so this was an ideal alternative to allow me to use my 12v car tyre inflator off of the mains rather than having to find another car nearby to try and get plugged into. It's fairly compacy, the build seems of decent quality and it worked exactly as it needed to, when I needed it to.I also have a 12v charger for LiPo batteries for my remote control plane - again, it worked without issue and was much cheaper than buying a mains LiPo charger, essentially turning my existing 12v one into a dual purpose. Ideal.
