Hario V60 Ceramic Coffee Dripper Pour Over Cone Coffee Maker Size 02, White

Very happy with this coffee "maker". I've been looking for a plastic-free drip coffee maker. I was sick of tasting plastic, burnt coffee, & worrying about how harmful that could be. It's almost impossible to find a true plastic-free coffee maker without spending an outrageous sum or going simple & old school with a percolator, French press, or pour over set up. I did my research & realized that the French press & percolator wouldn't be a good fit for me so I went with the pour over style. Japan makes some simple, trustworthy, quality, & affordable pour over coffee products. I also like that you can buy filters that are natural & not bleached with chemicals. It's the cleanest coffee maker. Yes, it takes more work than a drip coffee maker but it also tastes SO much better & it's healthier. Besides, it takes only a few minutes to boil the kettle, then 30-45 seconds after a quick, short pour, to "bloom" the grinds, then a couple minutes to pour the rest over the grinds & wait for it to brew & filter through into the mug below. So, 5 minutes or so total? Worth it! It's a simple ceramic filter holder that sits on top of your mug of choice. This, paper filters, hot water, & coffee grinds are all you need. I recommend getting a gooseneck kettle that can be set to a specific temperature. Then you have less chance of scolding the coffee & you get a richer, tastier flavor.

Just as described and perfect in design and use. This is how it supposed to be, and I purchased the ceramic vs plastic because plastic does get damaged over time with hot water and if using boiling water, which I like to use, I figured porcelain/ceramic is better and worth the price. Yes, I have to be careful not to break it, and its like any other coffee mug, break it and replace it. Its not that heavy or bulky, just like a typical mug, just a bit more weight. Plastic is way lighter in weight and forgiving if you drop it or hit it by an accident, so that would be 2 benefits to purchasing plastic one, which I do recommend as well. (Hario brand). Plastic is also better for travel or camping, but I would take this one camping as well if need be. I do recommend this product and I didn’t want to go with a knockoff, because I respect Hario and their craftsmanship is on point. Buying knockoffs will get you by and sometimes, its worth the extra bucks to get the original piece knowing it will not fail you in design and functionality. (Unless you get lucky and find a great knockoff, which I didn’t want to bother this time). You can use almost any filter with it if you fold it and make it cone shape. I use big filters I have left from traditional coffee machine. Will say that its best when your coffee grounds are fine and some store-bought coffee grounds are too coarse so I rather grind my own, extra fine, and you get more out of your coffee, plus fresh grounds are always more aromatic and indulging. But any coffee grounds will work, I just find it using less of fine vs coarse grounds to achieve the same results. Remember, coffee industry recommends 2 tablespoons (10g) for every 6 oz water, which is a good place to start to find your preference. Double the amounts when using this dripper and make sure your mug or glass is 12oz or more to avoid overspill. Hope this review gives you a better idea about Hario V60 coffee dripper 02 ceramic. This is a PERFECT single mug pour over coffee maker! I have made coffee with the Melita brand plastic pour over coffee drippers for many years, but decided to move away from plastics. I decided on this Hario V60 size 01, and it's awesome! The quality of this thing is excellent, and it is the perfect thickness of ceramic--not too thick and not too thin. It's relatively light--in a very good way--and feels very balanced on top of a mug (it's not as light as plastic, of course, but many lesser quality ceramic drippers are quite heavy, making the setup on top of your mug annoyingly top heavy--not so with this one, it's a great light weight, for ceramic). The size 1 is perfect for my needs. I always make a single 12 oz mug of coffee, one cup at a time, and this works excellently for that, and the smaller size makes it a great weight and well balanced. If you were going to make a 16 oz or larger mug of coffee, you might want to step up to the 02 size, but I could still definitely make this 01 size work for that. It fits very well on top of my mugs and insulated to-go tumblers. I'm extremely happy that I bought this--the size 01 is perfect for me. I highly recommend this! One bonus tip: You can use either cone style or basket style coffee filters with this. If you use basket style filters, you just have to be a bit more careful when you are pouring the hot water in over the grounds, since the pleats on the basket style filters won't be perfectly flush against the sides of this pour over cone shaped dripper. Totally doable, though, to use basket style filters.

I purchased this as a replacement for my electric Cuisinart coffee maker with gold filter. The Hario arrived quickly, but the filters were backordered several times. After 10 days of staring at this beautiful piece of pottery, I decided to try a round paper filter folded into a cone. How different could it be from the filters made just for the Hario?! Well....The coffee dripped out of the edge of my mug. I lost a couple of ounces out of the 16. It was a mess. I was sad. I commenced staring at the beautiful red ceramic and dreaming of coffee. I found another resource for the correct Hario cone filters and they finally arrived. I used one and the difference was AHmazing! It worked like a charm. Coffee flows neatly into my mug. Almost as if the two items were meant to work together! My morning happy juice tastes better than the electric dripper (same old ground coffee, I haven't dived into a grinder yet). I really like the scent as I pour water over the grounds. The ceramic dripper is easier to clean than my electric and takes up less counter space. Love, Love, LOVE it!!

Great pour over dripper. Switched from plastic version which was also good. Ceramic def stays cleaner but is a bit heavier than the plastic. Plastic was pretty stained after almost 10 years of use. I have always used the Hario filters and never had one break

First time trying a dripper—surprisingly simple to get started, super forgiving even without much technique. The workflow feels intuitive, cleanup takes almost no effort, and it’s easy to dial in a clean, balanced cup without overthinking it. Definitely a great entry point into manual brewing.

Purchased the 02 size which is okay but I wish it was bigger. I had been concerned about durability of the ceramic but no worries with this- material is thick and robust. I didn’t buy the matching filters and have been experimenting with both generic basket and cone type filters. So far I prefer the basket type as I’ve had multiple cone type filters blow out at the seam. The large hole in the dripper may not offer enough support for some cone filters. I would buy again- purchased to replace plastic dripper. One drawback is that this is slower than my plastic dripper was. To me it’s worth the trade off as I eliminated black plastic with food items.

The style is really convenient and works well. I’m a beginner and after a couple tries my coffee tasted better than the cheap coffee makers I was using. Treat yourself and get the ceramic (not plastic).
