Design: Due to a slightly deformed jaw joint, I have a hard time keeping regular earbuds in my ears, so I can't use the most common styles that just sit in the ear. These actually stay put better than most, and the over-ear hooks provide added security so I don't have to worry about them falling out. They're also pretty comfortable; the hooks don't cut into the tops of my ears.Sound quality: Very crisp sound in the upper ranges. The bass range is a little muddier (though certainly not the worst I've heard), but not enough to obscure voices on audiobooks or videos. While I wouldn't recommend them to a hardcore audiophile, they're perfectly fine for casual listening/watching. They do not offer active noise cancelling, but they have a sound insulation membrane that cuts background noise by about half (when using them in public environments such as restaurants). Volume is strong; anything over about 40% is uncomfortably loud to me, at least with the devices I've tested.Case: It's okay, but could definitely be better. I do like the translucent cover that allows you to read the battery display while it's closed and charging. Internally, it's well designed, with magnets that lock the earbuds into position. Externally, it's an Apple-like folly of aesthetic design over function -- it invariably takes turning it around several times before I figure out which side to open, because the hinge and latch slot are deliberately minimized to give it a more sleek appearance. (I'm going to have to highlight the latch side with a paint marker, or something.) There's also no way to attach the case to anything. I wish it had a loop for a lanyard or carabiner so I didn't have to dump it loose into my laptop bag and dig for it every time. It's the size and shape of a bar of soap, with a slippery surface, so it's not easy to grab when feeling around blindly for it. (I'll probably get a clip-on pouch for it so I can keep it someplace easier to access.)Controls: While most of the advanced touch gestures are things I'm not going to remember (a common issue with headphone touch controls), play and pause are just simple taps, volume is a double-tap, and prev/next are long touches. The surface responds promptly to a light touch -- I've even accidentally paused music and videos when just pushing hair behind my ears. The play/pause controls work on many media players, including YouTube.Bluetooth: Absolutely zero trouble with the connection. It connected to my PC in seconds and has automatically reconnected each time I've taken them out of the case. I've never had the connection drop.Overall: Even allowing for the (admittedly minor) case annoyances, you really can't beat the quality to price ratio here. These earbuds function like a higher-priced model; the sound quality is comparable to the $50 headphones I bought a year ago. I absolutely love these earbuds. I always have a problem with earbuds not staying in my ears because I have very narrow ear canal openings, no matter how hard I try to screw those things in, they fall out! I've tried attaching ear hooks onto them, and that doesn't always work someone finally told me that there are earbuds that have the hooks built in, so I did an Amazon search,. And I found these ones and gave them a try and I love them. They stay in, they don't hurt my ears and they're easy to control. I've tried other of the same sort but the controls don't make sense or they will disconnect me from my device. But these ones that I'm reviewing have been perfect, I'm so happy with this purchase! They pair quickly and they last all day as I walk around listening to podcasts as I do my mom type stuff. I can still hear noise and conversations in the house if I pay attention, and if I want to hear better I just take them out of my ear and let them kind of dangle but they're still there for when I want to pop them back in my ear to listen again. Perfect. If the battery gets low I can pop them into the case to recharge. In general, sound quality is not a big deal to me, but these ones sound very very good, especially compared to other headphones that I've tried and returned. Five stars.
