Great Inexpensive Tripod/Fluid Head for DSLRs
Executive Summary: This is a sturdy, well-made tripod/fluid head for an amazing low price.I needed a video tripod to film a music recital for my daughter-in-law. It was to be held in a mid-size auditorium in Washington, DC. I used my Fuji X-H1 with my Canon EF 70-200 lens. The Cayer performed great, easily supporting my rig and providing a rock-solid image.I selected the Cayer because it uses a ball base, which makes fine tuning the level very easy. The ball base worked well, making setup quick and easy. The legs are sturdy and the locks are strong. The fluid head is nice and smooth and the pan and tilt lock work great. The plate is large and balancing the camera on the head was easy. When I filmed, I was at medium to long telephoto and the movements were smooth.Be aware that the pan is not as smooth as the tilt.If you are looking for an inexpensive solution that can stand light to moderate use, this fits the bill. Based on my prior experience with television and motion picture cameras, mostly using Miller heads, I don't think this would stand up to hard or heavy use. Still it is well worth the price.

Cayer BV30L - Inexpensive Video Tripod that gets the job done
The Cayer BV30L is a well made video tripod. It is stable and has good dampening. The tripod is very stable, but not especially easy to move around. It is very good for a fixed position camera. It also has good rubber feet, no spiked feet for outdoor use are included. The lateral dampening is perhaps a bit stiff, but makes for smooth panning. The maximum height is just right, it gives a stable POV just above most peoples heads, giving a clear view over standing or walking people. The stability opens up more possibilities than video, such as time-lapse photography or long exposure times.Pros:This tripod is Stable with a capital "S"! No additional weight is needed to hold it down. The inclusion of an extra mounting plate and wrenches is a great bonus as is the inclusion of a wrench stored right where you need it on the tripod head. The included, padded carry bag is well balanced and has an internal pocket for the spare plate, wrenches and what have you.The tripod need no disassembly to fit in the carry bag, only the panning lever needs to be folded down. All of the parts fit and work well, the adjustments work smoothly and securely.Cons:Not easy to move about or to make even small changes in height while filming. For this, you would need a different, likely less stable tripod. Not especially compact or lightweight, it would not be a good choice for a long hike on foot.Overall, the Cayer BV30L is an excellent tripod for fixed position video work. It provides a very stable platform with smooth panning for any camera you're likely to throw at it. It is my best tripod for video work.

For the price this is a good buy
Didn't know what to expect when I purchased this tripod having used the cheaper $40 tripods before that you find in Walmart and such. But, I was very happy when it arrived. A few things I noticed right away was the construction is much better than the $40 tripods, more solid feeling. It has a nice head for the camera to mount on and easy release knobs for releasing or locking down. Plus, I liked the height you can get from this tripod. Great for over a standing crowd shot. Good leg spread for stability too. It's not as light as the $40 tripods, which makes grab n go shooting a bit of a haul, but the payoff in a sound tripod that works well is worth the price difference. The only complaint after using every day for a week now, is when panning slowly, there seems to be some resistance in a few spots which makes for a not so smooth pan. Not at all a bad price or product. If you're looking for a move up to a more professional tripod but can't spend $300-$400, this one I'd recommend.
