Nice!
We have a firepit outside that we use on a very regular basis. We haven't done many alterations to it, though it is due for some. I decided to give this grate a try and I like the result. It lifts the firewood up so air can circulate below and it makes cleanup a bit easier as all the ashes fall down but the wood stays put.

Add some class to your cabin.
So I am not really using this for its intended purpose. I have a small off-grid property where I like to spend weekends. While I tried to do it on the cheap, I’d like to think it is an aesthetically nice property as well as being functional and utilitarian. I unapologetically use a wood burning stove for heat when I am spending time there. It’s not an open face fireplace like what this grate would be used for, but more of the enclosed old-fashioned kind for heat versus appeal. I thought about making a wood box in my shop to hold firewood in, but I wanted something that looked a little more classy to dress the place up a bit. This fit the bill. I use this to put logs on and then have a small box behind it for kindling. It’s simple but looks really nice. It’s very sturdy and the finish has been very durable so far. The welded seams are all well done and the fact that it is one-piece upon arrival gives me confidence that if I did use it in a fireplace or firepit, it would hold up well and not need adjustment or tightening as parts expand and contract from the heat. If I didn’t have a gas fireplace in my regular home, I would for sure buy another one of these to put in there to hold the burning logs. As it’s built from stainless steel, I’d have no worries about this tarnishing or rusting no matter what environment it’s used in. I’ve had other fireplace grates in the past that were a cheaper metal and just a platform, but this one is an excellent combination of form and function. Well built, sturdy and gorgeous.

Grate Feature
A heavy-duty steel structure that is built to last. It is very strong, and durable enough to hold massive logs of wood and heat for an extended period of time. The classic round style enhances the airflow. Easy to use by a simply placing the grate into the fire pit.

Quality welds abound!
23Dec19 UPDATE: This grate has performed flawlessly over the last nine months. We have left it exposed at the campsite and used it multiple times, building large, long-lasting fires with it at the base. We have completely smothered it with glowing coals and despite the hard use, all of the welds have continued to hold well and this rack feels just as solid as the day it was put in place. I am extremely pleased with the performance and durability.ORIGINAL REVIEW: This stainless steel grate is well-constructed. Each of the welds securing the feetto the crossmember and the welds between the pieces of the crossmember are uniform and deep. The wire on top is spot-welded on both sides at each point of contact. The heat cycles that this grate will be exposed to will not be trivial and these welds will likely be where the grate fails so they need to be good, if not great. Looking over this unit, I am hopeful that we will have many seasons of smokeless fires as it seems to be very well constructed. The only improvement I would make would be to include a carrying case/cover with this.

initially good, time will tell
This is touted as a heavy duty grate and I just can't agree with that. I have wrought iron grates that are much more substantial than this grate that I would call heavy duty. This one, while not lightweight, doesn't really fill me with confidence, but time will tell. We have used it lightly thus far and it's holding up ok. We actually have it sitting inside a 34" open tractor rim and it sits nicely in there and provides elevation for the fuel, allowing good air circulation. What we haven't done yet is build a raging fire that yields a bed of coals that stays hot all night, but that's coming soon. I'll update this review accordingly. My concerns with this grate are that it's made out of stainless steel of an unknown composition and not a whole lot of mass. When we have a hot bed of coals under the grade and a load of fuel on top, I am concerned that the relatively lightweight rings (compared to my heavy wrought iron grates) are going to yield. Again, this is TBD and we'll know soon. As stated, I'll update this review accordingly after a few months of use to report on the corrosion resistance after high heat exposure as well as the resilience of the rings and radial arms. It's very attractive out of the box, that's for sure. If you're looking for a show piece then look no further.

Pretty to look at…
This is very nice heavy metal steel fireplace grate. Our fires get very intense sometimes so I’m curious how long this will last. It’s not the cast-iron that I’m used to. But if you don’t need it for that it would be perfect. Maybe for occasional use as well? It’s definitely heavy. I’m just not sure if it’s going to last for years on a regularly burning fireplace.
