Was a bit sceptical about this light as some of the reviews mentioned the light still appeared to have some visible light - but no, this is exactly the same as my other two Alonefire lights in respect of the filter and how well it removes the visible light. Pointed at a non-uv-fluorescing surface, hardly any any reflection is seen. Looking directly at the light with protection (DON'T - I have so you don't have to😊) you will of course see some glow, but very little. Compared the cheap non-filtered 395nm lights this is great.Compared to the Alonefire SV16 (quoted as 5w) this Darkbeam (quoted as 1.3w) has a similar output. Probably a slightly tighter beam, but with a correspondingly brighter spot. So at a slightly further distance, the Darkbeam is roughly the same intensity and spot size as the SV16.I wanted something to replace my cheap pocket 395nm light and this is exactly the same size but with a far superior UV output.If you want a small pocketable UV light that has a decent enough output this is a good choice. You can get brighter ones for not a lot more, but they will be substantially larger.Incidentally, the pictures in the Amazon listing make the lamp look bigger than it is (I guess bigger is better right?!) but at 90x22mm this is about the same size of a chunky AA pocket light. See picture of it in my (fairly average sized?) male hands :)I haven't had the chance to test the battery life, so will update if I get the chance.
