Dandy by William Armes, Soft Absorbent Cotton Washamat Door Mat Small, Anthracite, 80 x 50

I bought a William Armes Dandy Washamat Doormat, 60 x 40 cm, Anthracite in July 2013. I was and still am very happy with the mat. I therefore decided to order another larger but similar mat William Armes Dandy Washamat Doormat, 80 x 50 cm, Anthracite in early September. The second mat is not of the same quality as the first - the actual matting material is much thinner than the first and backing seems to be made of a different material and does not lie flat on the floor. I suspect that the mat is not actually a William Armes Dandy Washamat Doormat but I cannot prove it. I did write an email to William Armes Dandy as I thought they might be interested that I received 2 quite different products both claiming to be William Armes Dandy Washamats. I thought they might be concerned that they might start to get a bad name if a poor product was sold as one of theirs. They didn't even have the courtesy to reply so it would seem they don't care. I did offer to send the mat to them so that they could verify whether or not it was one of theirs as it is I will just return the item to Amazon unused for a refund. I have bought many great products from/through Amazon sadly this was not one of therm. I wasn't sure whether I could give an item no stars so i have given this item 1 star.

Looks nice for cost

Was a little surprised at the slightly shaggy look of this but I guess that does help remove the grit etc. that gets walked into our house from outside (country house). It does work well though. The shagginess holds the dirt so not too easy to shake off, but combine a shake with a good vacuum and it comes up well. Size ideal for a large modern door and I have at our other less used door.

First of all i'd like to say that Amazon was as always reliable and super fast.Thanks Amazon i'll continue shopping here.Now for the doormat i have to say these :15 days ago I bought the anthracite 80*50 and put it outside and i bought a smaller one for indoor use.I washed them as it is recommended before the first use and it took almost two days to dry them, so being washable is not that great because i have to buy another pair of doormats for the days it takes them to get dry !!Then they started to ravel... especialy the antacite one which is outside. My porch is always full of blue cotton balls and the utility room is full of brown cotton balls (from the second smaller Dandy Washamat doormat )and as a result I have to vacum almost every day...And if you ask me if they at least hold the dirt, I would say "nothing special".I live in the country side, I have two children going in and out all the time and these doormats do a little compared to their high price !! Besides I believe that by the end of this winter there will be no cotton pile left on these doormats (they are extremely thin anyway..)I could have bought this quality from the local hardwood store for half the price !!!

I have seen similar products at nearly twice the price but was sceptical that this would be any good. But thought it worth a try. Early days yet but it does seem to take the grit and water off your shoes so prevents it being carried into the house. With oak floors throughout the house it really seems to work... will have to see how it is after a few washes.

Brilliant quality, colour is lovely and despite being in the conservatory exposed to blaring sun, it hasn't changed colour and still looks stylish.It's gotten muddy, wet, and the brunt of the back garden. But it's a strong mat, and the microfiber's are really good, most mud and garden dry and brush off really easily. But it's machine washable and it still looks new. I've had it for a year and I don't know how I'd survive if it wasn't at my back door. Definitely protects my house from the garden.

Totally love this mat. Fabulous colour. Looks great in my kitchen. I always buy dandy mats, they’re fabulous. Really traps the dirt. I have a dog so helps cut down mess coming in my back door and simply wash I’m washing machine.

This is a replacement for a 9 year old William Armes mat which lasted very well and performed brilliantly. The price is excellent for this quality product which helps stop wet grimy shoes from ruining your flooring. You can also wash this in the washing machine. Recommended.
