Marvellous Motown
Ten reviews already, yet not one even mentions the fact that Amazon's tracklisting is incorrect; no surprise there! This set actually consists of the first five original Motown Chartbusters albums - yes, that's Volumes 1 through to 5; NOT 1-3 & 5/6 as stated Amazon!!Housed in a functional, but stylish box, the CDs are contained within replica card sleeves of the original vinyl albums. Has there been any remastering? It doesn't state so, but they sound a little beefier than the previous rather puny sounding versions. At least you can turn up the volume without bringing on a loudness wars headache. The music? Well it's prime Motown, sequencing UK chart hits from the late '60s to early '70s. There are a few tracks on here that other Tamla compilations don't often include e.g. The Four Tops immaculate version of Jimmy Webb's "Do What You Gotta Do"; Detroit Spinners' "It's A Shame"; Jimmy Ruffin's "Farewell Is A Lonely Sound". Plus lots of topnotch 45s from Marvin; Stevie; Gladys; Temptations; Supremes; Four Tops etc etc.The only thing that's omitted is Volume 6, and since that was the weaker of the original classic sextet, you're not missing too much. It's cheap; it's wonderful; it's a must buy. A time capsule of music at its most wonderful. Here's the proper track listing:Discs 1-3, as listed by Amazon above, then:Disc 4Jackson 5 - I Want You BackMarvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell - Onion SongFour Tops - Can't Help MyselfSupremes - Up The Ladder To The RoofTemptations - Can't Get Next To YouMarvin Gaye - Too Busy Thinking About My BabyStevie Wonder - Yester-Me, Yester-YouDiana Ross & Supremes - Someday We'll Be TogetherJackson 5 - ABCStevie Wonder - Never Had A DreamJimmy Ruffin - Farewell Is A Lonely SoundFour Tops - Do What You Gotta DoSupremes & Tempts - Second That EmotionTemptations - Cloud NineJnr Walker - What Does It TakeDiana Ross - Reach Out & TouchThen, Disc 5 is what Amazon have listed as Disc 4.Clear as mud now? Hopefully! Just buy it.

So nostalgic
Awesome. The best Motown CD collection I've found thus far, and I've searched high and low. This is a compilation of a compilation - a collection of the Chartbuster LPs that came out in the 60s through to the 80s. Chartbusters Volume 3 is famously perfect (Heard it to the Grapevine is the first track, Tracks of my Tears is the ast). I'm just happy to get easy access to these tunes for a low price. The best of the best, thank you.

The Glory Years Of Motown
Got this at a bargain price (it's gone up since). 5 CD's of some of the most glorious music from my teenage years, incl. Vol.3 - possibly the best single album compilation ever issued.
