Scotty#2125 12V Downrigger & Puller Receptacle and Plug from Marinco

While well made, the face plate doesn't come off if you don't intend ok on drilling a hole on your boat, there are other ones that are just the barrel.

Very easy to connect wiring

Poorly made, wires pull out easily even after tightening the screws. I got it to work only by adding solder to the wire which the manufacturer does not recommend. Needs to be re-engineered.

I have a 14 ft pond boat. I've rigged a portable livewell (i.e. cooler with an aerator on a timer). Installed this switch to make the unit portable. Works like a charm.

Made by Marinco for Scotty is a very nice product. Dad was concerned at first in mounting this flush on deck. As you can imagine getting water directly in plug. Seems like it will be okay had o-ring and a decent rubber cover that snaps down when not in use. Also had a tight rubber boot on deck side to seal out water. Easy to connect just double check your polarity the plug is numbered 1 and 2 for positive and negitive. We called Scotty on gauge wire for our 25’ run and they recommended 10 gauge with 30 amp inline fuse directly to battery. Installed very quickly and tested fine. Will update if anything changes.

I replaced a three wire with this two wire (was all I needed for my trolling motor) and it worked great.

Marinco makes great electrical stuff. This connector set is no exception. I’m so impressed, I swapped over all of my Penn downriggers to Scotty connectors. Positive locking, makes great connections. Easy to attach wires to. If you need cable, Scotty also makes that. See my review of that.

Receptacle side of connection exceeding difficult to connect to power wires. Pos and neg holes are too close to use without risk of short. Screws to lock in the wires too small and weak to hold. Have to actually use glue (liquid electrical tape) to make it work. Size of required wires too big to easily fit the holes. I have replaced mine 3 times over the last 10 years and it is always a terrible experience. You tube demo from Scotty never shows how to lock in the wires. It just says what to do after you connect the wires. Video discusses using Scotty wiring but not listed on Amazon. Awfully unhelpful video. Update: replacement receptacle doesn't work. Third one I've used trying to fix it. Trying to find another design to replace it.

Item seems to work ok. Problem I found when wire inserted into attaching mechanism the mechanism doesn’t tighten onto wire unles wire is of a certain size. You some times have to fold wire to have a tight fit.

Bought these to add extra power plugs to the boat to allow for changing positions and adding and removing my down riggers as the conditions change. My Scotty’s are track mounted.

Very easy to install

Great product, don’t have to worry about connection issues now with the locking connection.
