The first 9/10's of the book were great....
This book really pulled me in and I found it hard to put down. I contemplated many times who the 'bad guy' was going to be. I was so looking forward to the finale to find out which of the characters was doing all the dirty deeds! But then - arrrrgh - not another book that has such a wonderful overall plot and then fizzles out at the end!! Noooo -- this book had so much promise. How could Tess Gerritsen write such an intricate and complicated novel and then finish it up with such a lackluster ending?I was so disappointed to finish reading and find that Tess seemed to suddenly realize that it was time to turn in her manuscript to the publisher, so she wound up things very quickly with no real explanation at all. I seriously think that readers who stuck with this book for so many pages and chapters deserve a good conclusion that fills the readers in and gives them a satisfying finish to the story. It was so interesting up until it abruptly ended - psssttt......

Book #6 of Rizzoli/Isles, not quite as good as the others . . . .
Ms. Gerritsen starts out well with a strong storyline but somewhere along the line it looses it's punch. Some of the characters, especially Anthony Sansone, are very hard to get into and become unbelievable. Usually Ms. Gerritsen has very strong characters that you get to know, but the members of the Mesphisto Club are vague, shallow and arrogant. I found more interest in the developing relationship between Maura and Fr. Brophy than I did in the club. I found I had more questions at the end of the book that never got answered.I'm sure Ms. Gerritsen will rebound with a winner in her next novel. As a side note, if you have not read all of Ms. Gerritsen's Rizzoli/Isles books in order, it might be a good idea to start from the beginning. Her character development is excellent book by book.

Scared me up all night!!!
First, I have to say I love Tess Gerritsen's books. The running storyline of Jane Rozzoli and Maura not trite as I have found in other books in which the main charactor(s) life unfold(s) with each new edition.Second, a good thriller book should be able to terrify you and make you jump even without seeing it on a movie screen and this is exectly what this book as well as did her other books ie. The Surgeon and The Apprentice. This storyline was so scary and so enticing that it kept me up all night reading until I finished and had me checking the locks on my doors and windows. A great book with lots of interesting facts weaved in along the way. I have to say to my favourite author, again, kudos to you Tess on a job well done--I can't wait to see what you have in store for the next one!
