Not suitable for my purpose
Unfortunately for me this product didn't help. I bought it to test old paint in our new house as we wanted to strip it. The old paint/varnish was yellow with brown varnish underneath. The colour code to test for lead went from pale yellow to sheaves of brown/black depending on the level of lead detected. The chemical liquid you dip the cotton bud in seemed to dissolve this paint and the cotton bud went yellow/ grey/ brown. I couldn't be sure this indicated lead or was just the dissolved paint and varnish discolouring the bud.

Not suitable for water
Don't buy for water test. Even though it says it tests water on the packet, it only tests to 1ppm. Water tests should test to 15 ppb. Ripped off.

Very effective and easy to use.
There was no colour change for the first couple of tests I carried out on different paint chippings and I was worried the product wasn't working. Then the third test turned very dark brown! Gutted! Two of the older paints I was testing contained lead. Now I have a lot of wood surfaces to encapsulate. đGreat product! Buying it again.

Not pleased.
Very fidly to use. Doesnât seem to work, as tried with an item which most certainly contained lead. And far too expensive for a sham.
