Covers most of the basics, but not all
I've luckily not had to use this in an emergency situation but I have done a test run. The included tourniquet is very easy to apply one handed and is appropriate for most limbs. The same goes for the plunger and the general access and layout of this kit. Obviously this is meant to provide emergency aid until you can access medical care. For that its definitely helpful and absolutely better than doing nothing. The instructions are very lacking, and offer not instruction on appropriate tip selection, placement, duration etc. Especially with the tourniquet it is vital to log the time it was placed and not use for extended periods. The bandages do not indicate latex or latex free so for those with allergies I'd recommend replacing those just to air on the side of caution. I like that it includes a mouth barrier in the event CPR is needed. This is a good basic kit, but if you get it I recommend adding your own insert for proper bite and sting aid, add a marker to track the wound size and tourniquet time, maybe an antihistamine for stings and familiarize yourself with the kit ahead of time.

Does it work? I hope I never find out.
A friend of mine who served for years as the lead EMT at a very prominent hospital, told me these don't work. That's not the first time I've heard that and I'm 99% sure that's true. But...but...that 1% of doubt made me press the buy button. For one thing, everyone will react differently to venomization. If you are struck and have this on you and deploy it immediately on the bite - I mean within less than 30 seconds, you may very well manage to get some of the venom out. However, you'll never get it all out and so no matter what, you need to get to a hospital as quickly as possible. The only antivenin for rattlesnake, copperhead and/or cottonmouth bite is called CroFab Cotalidae. It's made by one company in Britain and hopefully the hospital you're heading for either has it on hand, or can get it quickly. Depending on availability, market demand and dosage you require, brace yourself for upwards of $50k - $100k for a treatment. Yes, you read that correctly. All that to say, if this helps, it's a good thing - but don't rely on it to save you. Heck, it doesn't even include any advice or insight into snake bite, only a single sheet on how to operate the suction pump. I look at it as a little box of hope though and hope I never have to find out first hand whether or not it works.

I am not sure how well it works, but it could buy time.
Our family goes camping and there are snakes, bees, wasps, hornets, and other insects that can cause a reaction. We have a smaller kit similar to this one. My husband had a tick bite that was swollen. I managed to get the tick out, but you could tell there was fluid in the opening. I used the one we had and was surprised to see the fluid did come out. I am not saying it saved him from a disease, just that the suction did draw out the fluid from a small bite. This Extractor is very comparable, if not the same one with similar suction. This is one of the reasons I chose to review this Snake Bite kit. It does say it is not just for snake bites. It has a number of cups for on the end. I think it could be important to use for other bites such as spiders. Insect bites can be nasty too.I would add pads for insect bites to the kit.I would prefer to have the opportunity to do something about Bites, than not.

Very Light and Fits Well in Case
First I want to put out the disclaimer that most experts advise NOT to use something like this. Some even say it can cause more damage.I tend to be in places by myself off trail and miles from cell signal. I really can’t imagine a reality where this would make things worse for me. Typical snake bite advice is to get medical treatment as soon as possible without getting the heart rate up. That’s not possible in my scenario.I like that this kit is lightweight and not overly large. It also comes with bandaids, alcohol wipes, and a razor. It comes at an affordable price considering everything that is included.Unfortunately the instructions for use are very poorly done, and even contain a typo. The cleaning and care instructions are helpful warning not to wash specific pieces.

Nice set
Nice compact set to take with you during walks/hikes. Has a extractor with a variety of suction cuts, a mask, prep pads, band aids, a band to restrict blood flow, razor to remove hair and all comes in a handy little pouch. Unsure if it works or not but don't really want to find out but seems to be a well put together set. I have used a extractor in the past for a insect bite and this set seems to be a bit better. There is a giant explanation list with it but it really tells you nothing. I wish it came with an explanation instead. Yes I do recommend this nice kit.
