Feature packed radio
The media could not be loaded. It does a lot. Great value. Volume is controlled by up and down buttons. I would prefer the more total control a wheel would offer, but over all the radio has won me over. I like the fact it uses the same style charger as my current phone. USB- C style I believe. The built in dual flashlight is very useful at night on my bed stand. Lighted display and keypad illuminates briefly just long enough which is perfect at night. Has hold feature to prevent accidental operation in purse or luggage. AA batteries or included rechargeable battery means power wise you are all set! I have yet to try all the features. Primarily used for listening to talk radio shows on AM band. Shortwave does work well for me. Surprisingly great sound for the radios size. My spouse now wants one of her own.

Does many things, some better than others.
I rarely buy anything without reading reviews first, and this device had none at the time I ordered it, but I was intrigued by the range of features it offers. Here's the rundown:FM radio: works great, picks up many stations that are hard to get in my area. Sound quality is also very good on all but the weakest stations.AM radio: works fine on my strong local stations, less well on more distant or weak stations. It seems to have some internally-generated background noises.Shortwave radio: disappointing, unable to pick up anything on the shortwave bands so far, but I live in a difficult area for shortwave.Weather band: works great, gets three stations, most of my radios that have this band only get the closest one.VHF air band: works ok, gets local aero communications, some fine-tuning of the dial and adjustment of the antenna direction and length is necessary.Bluetooth speaker: works great, easily and quickly paired with my Android smartphone, and sounds very good.Mp3 function: not tested yet as I didn't have a micro SD card, but I will update this review later.Flashlight/reading light: works fine, but I probably will not use it often for this purpose as I have many other small flashlights.Clock/sleep timer/wake up alarm: work as expected.Overall ease of use: a bit complicated, as many buttons have more than one function, but not hard to figure out with the supplied instruction manual. It would have been nice if they had supplied a carrying case for travel, at least a cheap one. If I end up traveling with it, I will probably pick up an inexpensive camera case.In sum, if you need one device that does all these things, for travel, hiking, camping, etc., this is a good choice. If you are a devoted AM or shortwave listener, or live in a difficult signal area, you will want something that does better at those things.

Great value
For its size it gives you a lot of options for listening. I live in a low valley and I had very little problem getting reception on several airwaves and when I hooked it up to a wire antenna it was coming in great. I would recommend getting this radio especially for power outages with its dual battery options to keep informed. Ps The flashlight is also great for lighting up a room.

very poor reception
sense I live near an airport I thought getting a radio that picks up some of the "traffic" would be fun. My old 4 transistor radio from Radio Shack bought in the 70's picks it up but this radio does not. Also, the AM/FM reception is poor compared to other radios I have that cost far less.I would not recommend this radio to anyone.

Update recommended but not available
Seller recommends an rd-239 update to fix noise issues. Msg in product area indicates send email. Cannot find how and product support indicates no support available for this order…??.Seller responded very quickly and could not ask for better support. Highly recommend as this radio is quite capable.

Buyer Be aware!!!
You will not receive any Air, SW signals. When I connected the outside antena then all the local AM stations were coming in on SW, No selectivity at all. I am stuck because to return it has to be thru USPS. I have to pack it and find some where to print a label. This radio is junk. AM-FM and Weather a three band radio for too much money.

Without a weather alert, (typical for this brand) (most) internal EMI is gone.
Did notice some internal EMI on weak AM signals, but that disappeared once I moved it outside, like I said in my intro, "most" of the EMI from internal circuitry is gone.Requires the whip antenna to be fully extended when using all but AM band. This is good if one wishes to avoid strong local signals saturating the DSP chip during processing of the frequency tuned to.Otherwise, find the volume buttons before turning it on for the first time as it goes to near maximum volume right out the gate. Was going to buy a second one, but having received my first order today, they were sold out by then. With the discount I enjoyed buying this, it's a slightly cheaper version of the multiple band DSP radio selling for $5-$10 more. The major advantage of this model over similar models is the volume on all bands is significantly louder than similar models, good for anyone up in years hard of hearing, plus good in an emergency when nature is blasting it's (natural disaster) "boombox" outside your door.
