RAW vs. Smackdown ------ Who Will Survive?
It was the first time since the 2005's Survivor Series that RAW & Smackdown was involved in a feud against each other after Shane McMahon & the Smackdown roster invades RAW. But at least this Survivor Series gives us three dream matches. It opens with the first of three matches where The Shield takes on The New Day. To be honest I was conflicted with who to root for in that match because I love both teams. Then the women's Survivor Series match was an OK match except I was sad when Becky Lynch was eliminated. Then the Champion vs. Champion match between The Miz & Baron Corbin was a boring match that involved Corbin insults Maryse. Who cares? Then the next Champion vs. Champion match between The Bar & The Usos was a better match especially when the Usos makes fun of the Bar. Then the second dream match features the RAW Women's Champion Alexa Bliss & the Smackdown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair (my dream girl). That was a great match. Then the third dream match features the Universal Champion Brock Lesnar & the WWE Champion AJ Styles. It was a brutal match especially when Lesnar took AJ Styles to Suplex City. And finally the main event features the men's Survivor Series elimination match and it was a lot of twists & turns. I mean Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn attacks Shane McMahon, then Triple H pedigree Kurt Angle causing him to get eliminated & then Triple H pretends to help his brother-in-law only to eliminated him to win the match for RAW. I'm glad Braun Strowman give Triple H these hands after the match because what Triple H did was wrong.Great Survivor Series though!

The Good of Brand Supremacy
The every year contest of brand supremacy really drives me nuts because there are no real stakes and it’s forgotten about ten minutes after the Survivor Series is finished. The 2017 Survivor Series won’t really change my perspective on the brand supremacy concept, but if nothing else it showed that I can be entertained during the process. There’s 3-4 solid matches here: The New Day battle The Shield (WWE’s best two trios), Brock Lesner faced off with AJ Styles (Universal vs. WWE Champions), and Charlotte Flair took on Alexa Bliss (Women’s Champions.) A run lower most things are still watchable (Women’s Elimination Match and The Tag Champs match.)The only thing that set the standard for bad was the dreary match between The Miz and Baron Corbin and the main event which devolved into some odd and never really explained feud between HHH and Shane McMahon (in 2017 for crying out loud.) But even though the show ended on something of a downer (35 minutes for that)? It really didn’t take away from the overall awesome effort turned in by the WWE’s top stars. One of favorite shows of the year.

Survivor Series 2017
This DVD features the full 2017 Survivor Series event spread over two discs. Every match(on the main card) had a Smackdown vs. RAW theme to it, it was a good theme for the event but did unfortunately mean almost everyone had to wear shirts with their brand name on them, which can look a bit daft with wrestling gear. The second disc also includes three bonus matches from the Kickoff show.Matt Hardy vs. Elias - This is the first of three Kickoff show matches. It was alright, it was the kind of match you'd expect in a throwaway Kickoff show match like this, a harmless match but nothing too special. It was a short back and forth match with Elias focusing his attack on Matt Hardy's shoulder that played a role throughout the match. It was about what I expected.Enzo Amore vs. Kalisto - This was a match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. It was surprisingly good. It wasn't amazing or anything but considering Enzo Amore's lack of in-ring talent the end result turned out pretty decent. It was a short, enjoyable match and I liked the finish.Breezango vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn - The last of the bonus Kickoff show matches started off with a promo from Zayn and Owens about being left off the main show and Shane McMahon's problem with them. The match was entertaining enough, I enjoyed it but it wasn't anything special. It's a shame Zayn and Owens were left off the main card as they're a really great team. It was a good match but nothing about it was particularly memorable once it was over. The Shield (RAW) vs. The New Day (Smackdown) - This opening match was a regular Six-Man Tag match with no eliminations. It was a great, back and forth match. There was some great teamwork by both factions, convincing near falls and innovative spots. The match was full of great action from start to finish. This was one of the matches I was most looking forward to watching and I wasn't disappointed.Team RAW (Alicia Fox, Asuka, Sasha Banks, Nia Jax and Bayley) vs. Team Smackdown (Becky Lynch, Natalya, Naomi, Tamina and Carmella) - This was a traditional Survivor Series Elimination match. Before it starts we have to see Stephanie McMahon encouraging the RAW team because she still thinks the women's revolution is about her...The match was really good and was given a decent amount of time. Alicia Fox messed up a few things but the rest of the women made this into a very good match. The eliminations were all good and the right team won.Baron Corbin (Smackdown) vs. The Miz (RAW) - Corbin was the United Staes Champion here and The Miz was holding the Intercontinental Championship. I really wasn't looking forward to this match, mainly because I don't like Corbin at all. It ended up surprising me though by being an entertaining match. It went back and forth, had some good near falls and was actually enjoyable enough to watch. It wasn't amazing but it certainly wasn't bad, it was a pretty decent match, The Miz is very underrated as a wrestler.Cesaro and Sheamus (RAW) vs. The Usos (Smackdown) - These two teams were the Tag Team Champions of their respective brands. This was another very good match. Both teams worked together really well. There were some very innovative counters and moments in this match such as one of the Usos hitting a samoan drop while being powerbombed. It was a match filled with great action and convincing near falls with a good finish.Alexa Bliss (RAW) vs. Charlotte Flair (Smackdown) - These two were both representing their brands as Women's Champions. This was probably Alexa Bliss' best singles match of her career. It was really good. Alexa controlled a lot of the match, targeting Charlotte's ribs throughout. There were some good near falls and the action was all enjoyable. It was given a good amount of time and I liked the finish.AJ Styles (Smackdown) vs. Brock Lesnar (RAW)- AJ Styles was the WWE Champion here while Brock Lesnar was the Universal Champion. This was an incredible match. Brock dominated most of it, throwing AJ around the ring the way he does. AJ made him look like even more of a monster than usual. Styles managed to hurt Brock's leg which let him get in a few bursts of offence in that were timed so perfectly. He convincingly went from being dominated to looking like he could make Lesnar tap out. This was Brock's best match in a very long time.Team RAW (Kurt Angle, Triple H, Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe and Finn Balor) vs. Team Smackdown (Shinsuke Nakamura, John Cena, Randy Orton, Bobby Roode and Shane McMahon) - This was the main event of the evening and was a Traditional Survivor Series Elimination match. It was a disappointing match. It wasn't bad, in fact the in-ring action was pretty good. It was disappointing because of some baffling booking decisions when it comes to the match. They brought the match down a lot and prevented it from being the great match it could have been. It's still a pretty good match but it's prevented from being the great match it could have been. This is a great event full of so many really good matches. It's definitely worth getting as there isn't really a bad match on the card. AJ/Brock, New Day/Shield, The Usos/The Bar, Charlotte/Alexa and the women's elimination match all delivered brilliant matches. The main event was disappointing overall but it wasn't boring at any point so I still enjoyed watching it. Corbin/Miz was better than I thought it was going to be and even the bonus matches aren't bad. I would easily recommend this DVD. It's one of the best Pay-Per-Views of the year.
