Pairing took a lot of effort: holding power button down; pressing/releasing; restarting unit by unplugging/plugging; attempting to add via Bluetooth accessory menu. All the above took around 20+ tries over a few days. I was determined.Once paired, the buttons worked as intended, but it was evident that only the Google service voice command works when speaking. It will not work with the microphone icon built into YouTube or the virtual keyboard.Pay the extra few bucks for the manufacturer replacement, or Boxput.The Boxput remote works great, voice too, and it has an extra pointer feature. The only problem is the pointer feature button is where the Back button was on the manufacturer's remote. It's just a matter or reconditioning myself.Thumbs down.

This is my second one that I bought believing the first one was defective. Just ignore all the instructions you found there, unplug the MiBox , remove the battery of your old remote one which is paired and working and THEN start the pairing with new one. After you tested it and confirm is working fine THEN put the batteries again in your older remote and you will have now two remotes working fine.

Did not work with Mi Box 4 S

The remote arrived very quickly. Essentially it's just the remote in a plastic bag/sleeve within a bubble mailer. Quick inspection it appears to be identical to the original. Once you compare the two side by side it's more obvious the replacement is textured rather then the smooth plastic of the original. The buttons are also a textured soft touch rubber where the original was smooth plastic. Actually that's a bonus in my opinion. The original weighs in at 2.1 oz while this replacement weighs in at 2.3 oz. That's not really noticeable. As mentioned by another reviewer pairing is slightly awkward; 1) Settings, Remotes & Accessories, Select current remote, Unpair. remove batteries from all of your Xianomi remotes. Unplug the MI box, plug it back in. As it's rebooting and the Android TV screen is popping up with all your apps, press and hold two buttons, the menu button (the one with 9 squares) and the circle button. Do this on the replacement remote. You need to be within 8 inches of the MI box. After about 10 seconds it'll beep. You're paired. Remove its batteries. Unplug the MI box, plug it back in. Take your original remote and once Android TV has booted up again, press and hold those two buttons. Within 8 inches, it won't work from the couch. Again it'll beep when paired. Now you can add batteries back into the replacement. They should both work. If you go to Settings again you'll see two listed as my picture above. This remote functions as smoothly as the original. I've received remotes for my Roku and they were significantly cheaper (and for two). That makes this pretty pricey, that said it's about the only solution and it works well.**MONTH UPDATE** It's way better than the OEM remote. I really like the textured soft touch buttons. Worth it.
