Value for money multi-sport watch!
As an amateur triathlete, this is my 2nd multi-sport watch (my first being Tomtom multi-sport cardio). As far as I am aware, GoLife series of watches by Papago are like the Forerunner series for Garmin, and Papago is a Taiwanese company that specialises in GPS devices.I am almost 2 weeks into owning this watch and I must say I am pleased with this upgrade. Firstly from a price point perspective, I say this is a good value for money watch for those who swim, run and bike. This is almost half the price of the Garmin 920xt but this comes with an optical heart rate monitor too. Of course at this price, once cannot expect the colour screen or advance running metrics that are available on the latest 935xt or other rival brands but to most, 43 different metrics that are user customisable is more than sufficient. The watch has a crisp monochrome display and is water resistant up to 5 Atm.This watch allows the user to set up to 4 metrics per page for 4 different pages. There is a good strong backlight that allows you to see the screen clearly and you can set different kinds of alerts (both audible and vibrate) for your trainings. The alerts can be based on distance, time, HR% etc. There is auto laps and auto pause and you can also pair speed/cadence sensor via ANT+ for your bike workouts too! You can't pair with a power meter but you can pair it with an external HRM though. As for swims, I am very surprised that this watch does open water swims and even allows you to have the optical heart rate monitor on for swims. I have yet to test the accuracy for HR measurements for my swims but the HR is accurate up to 1-2 beats as compared to my previous watch in my runs (I tested it by wearing both devices at the same time for my workouts). One of the best parts of this watch is its ability to customise the multi-sport function in either dual or tri formats. You can customise the watch to do aquathons, duathlons or your brick workouts eg. Swim-Run, Run-Bike-Run, Bike-Run, and of course Swim-Bike-Run, even in different orders of event. When you complete your workouts, simply sync the workouts to your phone via BLE. The GoLife Run apps comes in Android and Apple versions. The app gives detailed breakdown of your workouts such as pace, cadence, HR and there's even a minute by minute breakdown of your workout route on the map! Overall, I am very pleased with this watch and the only gripe I might have of this watch at this price point was that I wished that the watch strap was user replaceable.
