Difficult to enthuse over a pan balance, but this has good sized buckets and have bought it to use with Numicon and other weighted learning resources, such as fractions, percentage and decimals.I haven't tried it out on children yet, but am hoping it will prove to be a valuable visual learning tool, to help students understand equivalency.After hunting around the internet, I managed to purchase this from UKPaperbackShop via Amazon UK for just £14.02 plus £2.80 P&P, so found this to have been the best price and value for money for a brand new Numicon item.Being a brand name, it often comes with a high price tag!

Not a Numicon scale, had another brand name which would have been fine should it have worked. Does NOT balance. Very sad, disappointed 5 year old, very sad Mama.

The buckets arrived stuck together and needed four kitchen knives to separate them. The scales would not balance.

It looks very cheap, but it works ok. I bought it to go with the numicon set, and they do fit well in the buckets. But I would say it is rather expensive for what it is. Edited to say, that after 1 day of carefully playing with it two little bits already broke off!

Find this really useful for showing equivalence. Very pleasedand would recommend to other teachers. Bought "used - like new" - impressed.

An excellent resource - I use it to help low ability understand how to solve equations.
