Outdated, I wish there was a newer version of it
The contents of the book have been most likely very good when it was released (back in 2001). It would have been a perfect follow-up book after an introductory LabVIEW course / tutorial.Unfortunately now (as of 2013) it is clearly outdated. The book leaves reader to wonder, what is still the same and what has changed. On the other hand, many things are familiar even now on LabVIEW, but then again, the book describes Windows 95 and NT as the latest operating systems.Even if everything in the book is still true (it may be), there are now more features in LabVIEW which the book obviously does not cover.I cannot recommend buying the book, but if you are learning LabVIEW and have easy access to it, it is worth a read.

Inaccurate Synopsis.
I rate this book based on its content and not on the inaccurate synopsis on the web site. There is no chapter on PDA operating systems of PalmOSO, nor are there 520 pages (499 pages including the index). However, the book does go into some detail on subjects that are not normally covered such as Exception handling and Multithreading. In all, this book is a good follow on from "LabVIEW for Everyone" by Jeffrey Travis and Jim Kring, which focusses on the practical skills needed to create good all round programs.
