Bell Spotter Trainer Wheels for Bicycle

These work great, easy install, minimal tools needed and easy instructions. They are adjustable to fit almost any size kids bike. They are very sturdy, almost too sturdy, Lol. I got them for my son, he took off down a hill he wasn’t quite ready for. He almost fell off trying to stop but these kept the bike from tipping. Although he went all the way to the bottom, he didn’t turn over on the asphalt and instead crashed in the grass. The swing back design is great too, let’s him try out regular riding without having to take them on and off. Super happy, like them enough I bought a second set for a bike at grandmas house.

I read some reviews that said these are cheap but I think these are great for the price! All the hardware was included and they were easy to install. Save your money and buy these. Note: these probably function best on a 12” or 16” bike. I put these on a 20” and they catch my son but they are about 2” off the ground.

I purchased these trainers after attempting to use the "Schwinn Girl Bicycle Training Wheels". The issues I was looking to resolve were: increased height for a 20" bike; wheels which can tolerate normal use on sidewalks and pavement; increased stability / able to maintain fixed position when in use. This set actually surprised me in how well it resolved those issues. The wheels are a durable plastic. I would have preferred metal, but the plastic in this construction is neither flimsy nor excessively rigid. Thus, it will flex as needed, and it will not be destroyed by the vibrations of the road. The tires are rubber, or a material that is very similar to it. I feel that this feature makes the overall stability improved substantially. The spring design is very clever, and it is very strong. The configuration appears that it would resist the fatigue other configurations might exhibit over the course of normal child usage, simply because it is designed to flex, while not being "bouncy". The key factor which this design resolves is its ability to maintain its position when mounted on the bike. The bracket used to clamp to the bike works like a cotter pin which is positioned on the rear fork, ahead of the axle. It is difficult to see in the imagery provided here, but it is the one factor which makes this set superior over any other in this price range. The point which could be improved on this design is not actually part of this set. I found that mounting the trainer on the chain side of the bike was exceptionally difficult. The axle bolt is not quite long enough to accommodate the clamp and the "spring support arms". I managed to adjust the position of the bolt so that there was enough exposure to thread a nut. However, I am nervous about it. If kid bikes would include a longer rear axle bolt to meet the needs of such a common attachment site it would be a perfect configuration.

I have twin boys that are just starting to ride bikes. Found a great deal on 16" bikes at the local Goodwill but neither came with training wheels. The support pieces bolt right to the rear axle, then the wheels swing down into position. I like this setup a lot - the training wheels we used on my older daughter's bike were one piece and the attaching nut would always work itself loose. These are very sturdy and holding up well to young boy abuse.

Nice design, easy install. However they flex to much when force is applied to them.

Great design concept, which allows the rider to lean naturally while steering and pedaling. Quality is acceptable, but I did end up substituting washers I had on hand for the included washers (4) which seemed to be a poor fit. Be sure to follow directions and "preload" the springs properly. I am of the opinion that many of the negative reviews are due to failure to note that installation detail.

The item as pictured the Bell E-Z Trainer Wheel with the spiral designed bracket is the superior training wheel on the market. Instead Ace Hardware Outlet sent me the traditional Bell training wheel. When I asked to return the product and get the return info I would need(you need a return code or something) I was given a lecture on the fact that Ace is not responsible for the picture matching the product. At the end of this I was given the option of writing to them a second time to ask if I still wanted to return the product. Umm, thats what I did the first time. Instead I kept the product will donate it to my church rummage sale, and vow to be careful when using Amazon in the future. The training wheel themselves seem okay...but I do not like the big flat and sharp brackets. I can see where a kid might hurt themselves on the bar if its used with little little ones.

Wife installed while I was at work. product works great for my 3 yrs old, would say these are worth the $, and should get a couple years out of them, and hopefully pass them to my son who's a few years behind.

Didn't fit on the bicycle so had to tamper a bit with them but once they got on, I love them. I especially love how you can fold them up or down, very useful when the kid want to try without but isn't ready for them to be taken fully off

Seems to be good. Went on the bike easily.
