Jury still out
First, let me say I am not a professional cellist, however I am an advanced beginner who was looking for an upgrade to my standard student bow I’ve had for years. I recently upgraded my rosin and strings, so, hey, I’m on a roll. After some research I chose this bow and received it yesterday. Fast shipping, that was great. My first impression was wonder that a $1000 bow didn’t come with a case. Granted, the specs don’t indicate the bow comes in a case but considering the cost of the item I was surprised that it shipped merely in its simple cardboard packaging. I was looking forward to a new case! But alas, it was not to be. Again, there was no indication I should have received one, so this was my issue and not the seller’s.My next impression was wow, carbon fiber doesn’t feel lighter than my clunky wooden bow (no offense to my old bow which has served me well). I honestly thought this bow would be lighter and, though I have not weighed both yet, the hand-feel is not noticeably better/spritelier (for lack of a better word).I rosined up the bow (with my new beautiful rosin! Yay!) and started playing some scales. Sadly, I didn’t immediately turn into Yo-Yo Ma, and while I’m not sure how different I expected to sound, or the playing experience to be, I expected to feel something. I expected to feel better about my playing, or the feel of the bow against the strings, or in my hand, but I just feel meh. Am I expecting too much from a cello bow? Is this more a sad commentary on my life that I am projecting onto this object? I don’t know. But I think you experienced cellists who I find on the whole to be a generous bunch would agree that even an amateur should be able to notice something with respect to the playing experience as a result of this significant an upgrade. So I’m not sure if this was a good purchase yet or not. I’m going to dink around with the bow some more this week to see if it starts to feel more comfortable to me and ultimately determine whether this was a good investment.I wish I were more advanced a player so that pros out there could rely on this review, but I will say that for $1000 I’d expect to feel something positive about the purchase. As I mentioned I recently changed out my strings for the first time in quite awhile (years) and that upgrade definitely made a noticeable difference to my amateur ears. With this bow upgrade, I’m just not feeling it (yet?).UPDATE: After spending a few days with this bow, I have decided to return it, do further research and look for something a bit lower on the price point. I will likely spend time in person at my local music store vs. purchasing online.

Even I could play faster than ever rather than my other bows(worth thousand!!!!)By the way, I find this is lowest price on the net. The seller helped me ASAP on every issue on TAX issue as well. Also the bow case came with is very handy to store my old bow.Pleasing shopping.

soulless
I just got a coda bow diamond gx cello bow along with a L'archet brasil bow in the same price range from my luthier for testing, and I must say that I don't like the coda bow at all. After reading all the positive reviews I thought that would be THE BOW but for me it feels too light, no consistency, the sound is dry and soulless, just boring, better than my cheap carbon fiber bow but not a lot. Even my teacher had the same impression. L'archet brasil is a wooden bow and produces a warm and resonant, splendorous sound and that for the same price. So don't think you have to buy a $5000 bow to compete with the coda bow. Many reviews must be marketing or from people who can't differentiate between daylight and bulb light.
