16/10/14I have been using these for a few months now and can report that they are performing well. The blades are as sharp as ever. As I get stiffer and find it less easy to bend they have been a godsend. Also unlike scissors you can use them with either hand! This is quality kit.Been having problems for years cutting toe nails with clippers. So was well pleased to receive these promptly and find them well made. You do have to use a bit of pressure to get them to cut, but I am afraid this is the nature of a tool designed like this; they are cutters not nibblers. If you increased the handle length too much to increase the leverage then they would become unwieldy and awkward to use.The acid test will be how well the cutting edges last; stainless steel is not always the best at retaining an edge depending on the quality of the steel. I shall update this post in the future to let you know how they get on. At the moment they are cutting well.Update 27/11/16 These continue to work well and have kept there edge well.Still pleased and would buy again.

Maybe I was just unlucky with this particular pair, but most of the top 50% of the cutting edges did not meet properly, and only partially cut though nails.When closed and held up to the light, daylight could be seen between half of the cutting edges.The lower half of the cutting edge was ok, so I know it's not as if my nails were made of steel. However, only having the bottom half working renders these unacceptable for their intended purpose.Returned for credit, but I will reorder in the hope that the fault was particular to just this pair.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Update:Credit applied promptly, and replacement pair were fine. So, it seems I was just unlucky with the first pair.

I am elderly and my hands are losing strength, I needed something to cut my toenails. The hand grips are not as long as they appear in the photograph but seem to do the job well enough. Time will tell.27th June 2013.I have to be fair to people who might read this review and time has shown that these clippers fall short of what I needed to cut toenails. OK generally but hard work on big toe nails. The clippers tend to slide off the nail which makes difficulty enough but even with two hands I struggle to make them cut.I have now ordered a pair of cantilever clippers, more expensive but hopefully will do the job.Some confusion in other reviewers as to whether they are German made but who cares. Supplied by Amazon anyway.

This is the second pair of these i have bought the first pair lasted years.

Nice heavy well made steel. Came very quickly and has a rubber type blade cover and a nice leather like case.They cut through tough nails with a lot of force, but the blades could be sharper in my opninion, or maybe that might be dangerous with the force these cut at?Either way they are very nice quality and do good job on my thick hard toe nails.

There were many different items like this to do the job and I bought on reading reviews. I have very strong thick toenails and found these not quite as good as I had hoped but am sure if I had softened the nail before doing i.e. after a shower they would be fine. I may have been expecting too much as my nails are very hard and thick.

The quality of these is incredible for the money. My dad over his 78 years has bought countless pairs from various high street chemist and pharmacies, some at double this price only to find the lever spring breaks after a while and they don't have enough strength behind them to cut your big toe nail which is thicker than the other nails. Ordered these one Sunday morning with Amazon Prime and they were at his home in Northern Ireland before 9am on the Monday morning. Would highly recommend these for the hard to please dad's or husband's out there. When this comes to feet gadgets, it's a first class product!

Perfectly acceptable, but not as HEAVY duty as I wanted. Still tough going on those gnarly, thick and possibly infected Big Toe nails, which was why I bought it.The Spring mechanism (a metal Croissant) is not firmly attached - it just nestles in it's housings. If you should happen to drop the Product (as I did), the jolt may detach it and shoot it off without you seeing where it ended up. "All Hands & Knees on Deck" to initiate the search - in the hope it hasn't completely uncoiled.Hence the lower rating I was inclined to give it.
