Easy to use. Works well

I usually read the directions for any new product. This time I thought it would work by just plugging into my laptop and it would work right away, ... wrong! If you have a newer Windows computer you have to download a CD / DVD player software. Works great now. Great price. Good Luck.

The expected shipment, design and quality of craftsmanship and materials are fine. This device is plug and play. When plugged in, my laptop recognizes the device but when I open Media Player, it is not connected. I have not been successful finding a driver.I'm still working on what to do to make it functional. Also, cord length is very short.

Received it and connected to my HP 15-dy2132wm Laptop running Windows 10 22H2 version, 32GB RAM and 1TB NVMe SSD drive. At first it did not seem to recognize the Turbo Tax DVD, so I went into control panel and then Device Manager. I found the DVD device and it did not have a region set for it at the moment, so I set it to 1 for United States/Canada. You can only change the region code a limited number of times, so be careful. After that I ejected and inserted the DVD and it showed up and works fine. I also tried a DVD I have of CHEERS and using VLC Media player it worked excellent. No hiccups no issues, no problems. IF there is one later on, I will come back and change the review.Remember, to make sure it set to a region in your country for it to work properly.

This little DVD drive is lightweight and compact, there is also a spot in the bottom where you can fold up and tuck away the cable.As advertised, this is old-school Plug and Play, no special installation required. I use it with VLC to play my DVD's. The only issues I've run into is sometimes the tray/open button sticks or does not respond on first push, as if the drive goes to sleep, and it is also slow to load. I don't know if the slow speed is due to some quality of the hardware, the USB data cable or something else, but it can take multiple MINUTES to load a DVD in VLC. However, for the price it's been satisfying and I haven't had any issues with watching a film once loaded.

I have Windows 11 and it picked up the drive in less than 10 seconds. The cord is short, but an extension cable can easily take care of that if needed. For me, it really isn't a problem, but I dinged one star because I can see how it might be for others. I do like that the cable can fit into the bottom and stays quite snug.I tested a few different videos and zipped ahead and than back and forth on the dvd several times, and it did not skip a beat. I recommend this drive to others.

This was easy to install and use. No software needed, just plug n play.

As others had complained about the cord is WAY too short!I did run into another issue which I was able to resolve, when I first attempted to use the drive it did nothing but attempt a seek on the CD I had installed - tried it on another machine - same issue. Upon close inspection the lens that 'floats' against the cd was not clicked into the tiny fixture it was intended for. I used a tiny screw driver to click it in place - once that was done the device worked perfectly. Hope this helps someone else.
