Sturdy and easy to fit
For all the reviews that complain about fitting these, please give up DIY.Yes! You have to fit a taller plate to attach these to but it takes very little time to do.You must drill the screw holes in the backing plate before attempting to fit it.My advice is to drill two holes, one on either side of the ladder, using an extending ladder placed on the opposite side to the loft ladder, carry it into the loft, place a plank across the loft opening, sit on the plank, position the ladders and screw the screws in.You can then drill as many screw holes as necessary once it is in position and fit more screws. Then, and only then, extend the ladder down.It is very stable and my floor to ceiling height is at the upper end of the ladder's reach.Well worth the money and extra effort of altering the loft hatch.

Easy to install but needs 2 people to fit
Needs 2 people to install and built up loft entrance slides needed to make secure, then easy to install. Very sturdy and good for confined loft entrance. Comes with all the things you need. Sturdy ladder and easy to deploy.

Compact little ladder, great for restricted access
Fantastic, compact design to loft access where space is a real issue like in my house. The whole ladder is in a spring hinge for easy pull down and retraction as well. The ladder itself is sturdy and movable for those larger boxes you need to get in the loft hatch.Only issue was it was a little more difficult to install than it led me to believe me to believe. Also the ladder hook tool should have telescopic pole inclusion with this in my opinion rather than having to be purchased separately.

This ladder is a game changer!
This ladder has changed my life! I now have easy access to my loft where it takes up little space, is easy to get down and put back up again. I do need to stand on a stool to open the loft and release the ladder but it extends easily enough. It doesn’t come with a pole but they do provide a plastic hook to attach to the end of a pole. Fitting this ladder proved a bit of a challenge due to the size of the baseplate and the depth of my hatch opening surround. I employed a handyman to build up the surround and brace it before bolting on the base plate. It took him an hour but he knows what he’s doing and has the right tools for the job. It’s sturdy and secure. Make sure you allow tolerance on the stowage clearance if your loft hatch door has insulation in it as mine does. I ordered the 9 rung ladder for a ceiling to floor height of 210cm and it was just about right, the 10 rung would have been fine too I think. See my photos for guidance here.

Good design but poor quality in places. Not that easy to install
Good points:- Clever design.- Ladder is surprisingly sturdy when in use.- Once installed, looks good.Bad points:- Fitting it requires either a reasonably competent DIY'er or employing a professional. We DIY'd and it took a couple of hours as some carpentry was required on the joist it attached to.- Instructions are basic.- It's quite heavy and is a two person job to install safely.- Beware there's no handrail (obvious from photos) but maybe not suitable for anyone not confident using ladders.- Stiff to open and close.- No pole supplied, just a flimsy plastic hook to attach to your own pole.- The hook snapped the second time it was used. Very poor quality (see photo).

Best fit for a small opening and landing
The installation is easy, we had our carpenter around for the job, the fit is easy providing you have the minimum head space for the collapsed ladder inside the attic (once door closed). You are supplier with everything you need. The screws are small and probably better to get your own. Also need to source your own pole/stick for the opener hook. Will get a cheap one from Hobby craft

Good Ladder Overall
I'd recommend this ladder for anyone with a small attic opening like mine, but it won't suit everyone.Opening and closing the ladder is more difficult than expected. The hinges are stiff and the ladder needs to be hooked and unhooked from the frame before opening and closing. This is ok if you're over 5'10 and strong but I wouldn't recommend this for an older person.FYI my attic opening is 610x610mm and the ladder fits easily.
