Portable Solid State Drive for Laptop Windows 7 Mac Shockproof Type-C Mobile Hard Drive 4TB Blue

I purchased 3 of these 4TB SSD External drives. 2 of them worked, but the 3rd one was DOA. I could not copy files or reformat it. The drive would display in Windows 10 when I plugged into a usb port, but any attempts to copy files to it failed. The other 2 drives worked perfectly. The drives came pre-formatted with exFAT - which works with both Windows and Apple. But the allocation unit size was set to 4096kb, which takes up much more space on disk (more than double) than it would for NTFS. So I reformatted the 2 functioning drives with exFAT 256kb allocation unit size. These drives cannot be formatted with NTFS.I hope the mfg will offer to replace or refund me for the drive that doesn't work.

Amazon’s took down my father’s original review of this product. The drive he received not only didn’t mount, the computer didn’t even sense there was a device connected at all. He didn’t open it up, but we both own several Samsung SSD drives and speculate this product no more than a hot air in an empty plastic casing. I don’t recommend this product. Another disappointing Amazon return, unfortunately.

I was skeptical, but it works. The drive was well packed, and included a short, black USB-C to USB cable. The drive is little and cute (bright red). It worked perfectly on my Windows 11 computer. The only downside is that whereas it was advertised as a 4TB drive, it shows up as two 2TB drives. That doesn't bother me, but might affect some users.

The Mercuii 4TB solid state drive failed to function as required within a single day after delivery. A total waste of money. All my previous purchases from Amazon were excellent. Using for quick backup storage of PC data, and music potability.

It just after our 30 day return window.Upon receipt I discovered the default filesystem was not recognized by Mac. I switch the filesystem to a FAT variant. It appeared the device was then useable by both Windows and Mac computers. However, I noticed it not being recognized consistently.Over the last few weeks, I have reformatted some 6 times to try to address the issue. Yet, the issue persists.I have contacted the seller in hopes they will replace the defective unit. [I hope it is just this unit and not a product issue.]

I ordered this SSD being very low priced. It was delivered to me on Saturady 4th Nov at 5PM. Before to this on friday ijust thought of digging out the reaosn for its low price . I got schock when I read the reviews. i just was thinking I would receive the SDD in the blue case with C connetor moved in and someting shaking/moving inside the box. When i opened the pacakage and tookout the SSD found I have met the same fate as the others have. I thought if I have to retn this then it will paced and go back and wait for the money for 2-3 weeks. Who is going to look at whether I have opened thios until it reaches to the shipper/manufacturer. With a sharp plade I loosened the black case and found that the small PCB board with microSSD mounted in the reader and the driving circuit. With the PCB board in open condition I ensured to push the micro SSD and connected the cable and tried to read on my laptop with Win 7. It was not reading . I then fomatted with a fat files. I was amazed to see in the properties that it is showing me 3.8TB storage and then I copied all types of files ( 1.5GB) on it and tried to read. Itwas showing the erropr. Then I tookpout the USB cable and recoonnected to laptop. Everything started to read very properly. Kept on running one of the recorded film for 20 minutes to see that wthere the micro SSD gets heated or stops with any other issues. Nothing, worked very well. Then boefore putting back in to the blue case fixed the PCB position with C connector using extra supporting plastic pieces and quick glue. You csn see these on the back side of the PCB inn the above photo which I again tested to ensure it is working ( the blue power and reading LEDs are on ). I am lucky. You can use this procedure and get owrking your 4TB SSD. Best of luck.
