I think these came manufacturer direct & like anything fresh out of a kiln it needed a through washing, the bag too (by hand w/beads air dry). Be smarter than me & use a colander or strainer instead of dumping them right in the sink. But because there’s a layer of paper or foil between them & your pie crust they don’t need to be washed with every use. I’m very happy with results & quality & quantity of beads.

We use these pie weights to make pies and tarts. They work as suppose to, during crust baking they hets up and help to cook the top of the crust. Very easy to care for and easy to store. Some of the weights came broken as they were jostle during shipment. Otherwise, Have no issues.

Contrary to other reviews, these filled two 9” pie crusts easily. They are dusty when they arrive, though, so I washed them first, but I would’ve washed them before use anyway. They do chip pretty easily - try not to drop any! But they definitely did the trick.

I’ll make an effort to make pie weights sound exciting. These pie weights are the roundest ceramic orbs I’ve ever seen. They come in a drawstring cotton bag that once hid the priceless pie weights of the Russian Royal family. So Shiny white and sleek are these creamy white balls that if sunlight hits at just the right angle an army of invading nazis would be blinded and entire civilizations are sure to be saved. Not just weights to keep your crust from bubbling and shrinking but a baking necessity that can drive away the satanic forces of evil. I highly recommend these because of their multifunctionallity and historical significance. I’m pretty sure the Shroud of Turin was smoothed by rolling these heated pie weights over its surface in the year 972 by the greatest pie baker in all Italy.

These work perfectly. Wash the dust off them first, and use a baking liner under them

Great for blind baking, which is super handy when you are experimenting with wet pie fillings. Have tried it several times and although my crust isn't perfect, these do the job and get the crust started so it is able to correctly bake the pie. Check out Paul Hollywood's tips on Blind Baking. He was my guide when I bought these.Good product, haven't failed me yet.

Used them to make two pre-baked pie crusts and the crust came out beautifully, no "bubbles", even surface, and the pies were perfect - the crusts were not soggy or soft. Very easy to clean and store

Normally when I bake I make two pies at a time. These ceramic pie weights seem to be made well but for ONE PIE not two. The reason you use them is so that the side wall on the pie crusts don't fall down. There are not enough of these to use for that purpose so basically do not serve the purpose intended. If the write up would have said enough for one pie crust versus two - it would be more realistic and correct. I show a coffee mug next to the bag so you get an idea of the size. Disappointed.

Very good quality BUT you need to soak in warm water and dish soap many times and rinse thoroughly, dry well. They are filthy.

It’s MUCH smaller than I expected - each sphere is roughly half the size of a typical marble. I was surprised by this fact but find it’s actually a lot easier to use as a result

I’ve used these pie weights twice so far and am very pleased with them.

Item as described. Wife made a pie! It was delicious...not sure how much was because of the balls but would use again :)
