MCM ONYX Eau de Parfum

Blindly purchased this having no idea what it smelled like, it was a very very last minute birthday gift for my boyfriend and i only picked it because it’s a mini version of the same exact backpack he has so i thought it was a cute idea. i was nervous because this man is an absolute fragrance snob, but it turned out to be a really high quality cologne and the fragrance is lovely, like the type of smell that is universally liked. a little goes a long way and the smell lasts through 12-hour sweaty shifts. i find myself using this one a lot for myself as well and always get compliments. overall it’s a good value for the price, great quality product, really pleasant smell and super cute and unique bottle/packaging

Reviewing a cologne or perfume is a difficult task. Scent preferences are very personal so I tend to focus more on function rather than the scent itself. That said, I do enjoy the scent. I am male and I scent is intended to be masculine. My nose is not sophisticated enough to pick out the ginger, lavender, and clearwood but the smell is pleasing and fresh. It certainly changes from the initial application. After about 30-45 minutes the scent settles in to what you'll smell like. The lasting power is very good. I find that I can still smell it after a full day of work (I work in an office). I ultimately judge a scent by the number of unsolicited compliments I get. In the course of my work day I interact with the public in a smallish room. I will see 25+ different people each day. I will say that this scent does not get many compliments. No one outright says it's a bad scent either. I compare that to another much cheaper cologne I wear which has consistently received compliments and even has other men asking the name of the scent. This is a very non scientific way of comparison but for me it makes me think that the scent of Onyx isn't a slam dunk. Again, it's not a bad scent and I even personally enjoy it but based on my experience it's not the best either. Overall I'll say 3 stars for the scent, 5 stars for the function and lasting power which I'll average out to 4 stars.

This was a blind purchase for me, as I was looking for a new signature scent for this summer that no one else has and boy, did I luck out!.First off, this is the coolest looking perfume bottle I've come across. Even the box that it comes with has great little touches to it with the silver foil creating a cool reflective effect.The bottle is obviously inspired by MCM's Stark backpack, and they went hard with the black and silver colorway. It has a strap at the top so you can loop it on your backpack too for the extra flex.Now, the scent. It's semi-beast mode as it lasts a very long time but it's not so aggressive that it will overpower a room if you enter it. I've been getting quite the compliments this weekend so I will say it's a crowd pleaser too. It opens with an invigorating kick of ginger, which is both fresh and lively. As it develops, the scent introduces a soothing touch of lavender, which I think provides a perfect counterbalance. It mellows out with a warm, inviting base note of clearwood that lingers impressively, creating a memorable aroma. I think this will create quite the unique scent profile to each individual, especially with the upcoming warm days.I would say the price is just right for the longevity, luxury appeal, sustainability added and coolness of the MCM brand.

Perfume smells good. For a gentleman is a good gift or self-grift. However the scent is nothing particular that will distinguish from the rest. I know there’s some other perfumes from regular brands that have this similar composition. If you buy it you’ll see what I mean. I was expecting it to be a unique fragrance. Something that I didn’t smell before. Other than that it’s a good product.
