How many taste buds do you have?
Have you wanted to try marmite, but you don't know if you'll like it or not? There's actually a way to check your odds!Do the following. You'll need:-Blue or green food coloring-Paper-A hole-puncher-A mirror-A bright lightPut a drop of food coloring on your tongue, and swish it around with water to dye your tongue blue/green. Take a piece of paper with a standard-sized hole-punch in it. Place it over your tongue, and checking it with the light, count the number of large bumps within that hole (they will remain undyed compared to your tongue). Do this in a couple of places, trying to find the area that has the largest number of larger bumps within it. These bumps are your fungiform papillae, which denote where your taste buds are.If you count between 15 to 30 papillae within a single hole, you have an average amount of taste buds, and you probably won't like marmite due to its bitterness. If you have fewer than 15, you have fewer than average! That's your ticket! The cool thing about having fewer than average taste buds is that you're much less likely to taste bitterness than the average person! This makes you the most likely candidate to like marmite, as you won't notice its bitterness nearly as much as the average person, and will instead be able to enjoy its intense savoriness. Spread thinly and enjoy. It's also pretty salty too though, just fyi.Anyway I love it, 5/5.

Your secret seasoning
Listen even if you don't care for it on toast, use it as your secret ingredient in soups and stews and anything tomato. I use it in place of salt to provide the salt but also extra umame flavor.

Best value marmite! Edit - used to be
As a Brit, this is a must have! I love this stuff. And cheapest I've found outside of the UK. EDIT: it was $15 and now is almost $20. So I am not sure of the value anymore.

Attention gluten intolerant
This seller is very misleading when displaying his Marmite.Only the front label is visible, but when you receive the "yeast extract" product, you see the ingredients list: Barley, wheat.....And, surprise you need to jump through hoops to be refunded. It's not returnable.

Delicious!
I may be biased (being British) but I absolutely love this marmite. For the price, it was pretty great, as you get a massive jar. Really good quality and lovely Savory, punchy flavor. Works perfectly with butter and toast. Just the perfect comfort food. Love it, love it, love it!

How to get the perfect Spread
A good trick to get Marmite out of jar without getting the screw on lid all gummed up which happens if you use a knife , is to use a teaspoon and scoop about half a spoonful being careful not to get on back of spoon . With a little practice the jar threads will stay clean. 1/2 teaspoon is usually plenty for an american size piece of toast. Let it warm on the fresh toast before using a knife to spread it and you will get the perfect ‘Marmite on toast. If you use this method keep the jar out of the fridge and the product will drain to the bottom of the jar and you won’t leave any behind. It’s too good to waste!
