Requires a real USB 3.1 G1+ cable (USB 3.0), NOT a 2.0 cable.
It doesn't have an actual indication it is charging, but it does seem to charge very slowly. The refresh rate is MAYBE 8hz (per the listing), but it actually for $80 is IMHO decent. It's lacking some of the resolution of nicer units, but I bought this to help me figure out where I'm losing AC/Heat, not find a specific chip on a PC board that is hotter than the rest, so i'm good with it. It actually does a decent job. It might not be exactly right to a single degree or w/e, but that isn't why I would use a thermal camera. I would use it to FIND the hotspot, then use a more precise instrument to measure the actual temp, like my Fluke IR thermometer, or an actual thermistor if I needed the actual temperature of something.I wish it had a tripod mount, as from my little bit of testing (we are in the start of fall, so the inside and outside temps are pretty similar), it does seem to want to "settle" on something for a second before it shows good data. It's also something you really should "mark" what the pic is of when you snap one, as otherwise it's going to be real easy to be confused later about. (like my 4 week old in a little swaddle looks kind of like a teardrop shape with the "fat" end (his head/hands) being hotter as his head is bare, while his body is covered, and is cooler.I just took a couple test images, and I currently can't get the device to mount to my laptop, or my Samsung phones with 2 different C-C cables, I think I tossed the little short cable it came with unfortunately..Edit: 20231026 - figured it out. The camera will sync and charge on a REAL USB 3.0 or better cable. The type-C cables I had at my desk were all 2.0. I knew that, but didn't think to try a 3.0 cable until today. The charge light turned on, and is stupid bright, and the camera mounted with bitmaps to my windows laptop. The first pic is the back side of one of my monitors (a 21" Samsung TV...), the second is the overhead lamp in my office, with 2 LED bulbs, the 3rd is my (at the time) 6 week old son in a swaddle, my work laptop, and 2 of my hand. These pics are from ~2 weeks ago now, so I don't remember why I took 2 of my hand... Unlike some other reviewers of "other" models of this camera (Other sellers), I find the temps reasonable, as it is reading the SURFACE temp of the items, not the internal.

Take it off, first.
I had to remove the top display frame, before I could access the protective film. The blue pull tab was held down by the frame, instead of being on top, so the film could be peeled off.

Not worth it
The resolution is low. The thermal image shown on the LCD is just noisy. For example, just pointing it on a desk top at room temperature, and you will see hot spots fading in and out. It will work if two adjacent objects are big and will huge temperature difference. It may be a cool toy for kids, but definitely not for any serious works.

Real Thermal Imaging at Cost
From my perspective, this $80 investment has been worth it. This wonderful little gizmo has enabled me to use real thermal imaging at a price-point that I can meet. No.. you don't get the high-res imagery that you would with a FLIR, but compare the costs and count your blessings.. lol!

Expensive but not bad.
It's a little more pixelated than I expected. And a pain in the ass removing the screen seal since they put the frame on after.A little expensive for what it is, but it'll work for what we need

It is just like a toy
It is not a real infrared camera and only shows an illusion with no resolution. It is just like a toy. Please look at the picture, The water is boiling at 100 C, but it shows 88 C. "No accuracy and no resolution". I decided to return it but I have to pay postage. DO NOT WASTE TIME AND MONEY on something like this.
