Great first line product.
Have used for decades. This is a very good product, you can mix it with water for a spray or use as a dust. I use it to dust bulbs like iris, glads, daffodils anything I dig to store or transplant. Very good basic old time first line fungicide. If you mix it with insecticidal soap like Safer, between the two, it will also help suppress a number of insects and fungal problems. Please don’t use dish soap ( chemicals and fragrances not good for plants). 50 years ago when soap was just lye and a fat source, it was okay — but that’s not the case anymore. I spray it late in the afternoon, like I do everything chemical wise — to avoid spraying the bees and I try to avoid the blooms as much as possible. But it also is a good practice to give it time to work, dry before the sun comes up the next day and the bees are flying again. I also use products as low in toxicity for pollinators as I can. I use this, and another low tech fungicide called GreenCure which is potassium bicarbonate type product (much more effective than baking soda (Sodium bicarbonate) which can cause some issues such as phytotoxicity and adds sodium (salt) to the ground which isn’t good. I try to stay away from Neem and baking soda — they can cause worse issues than what you started with in the first place. This is a product, like Green Cure that you want to use as a protectant on a regular basis per the directions and keep a problem from starting where you ending having to use some very expensive and highly toxic chemical to get rid of a problem. The old saying - a penny of prevention is worth a pound of cure - is very true.Though this product (brand) and other brands is very good and is helpful to have in your shed — I can’t figure why they are charging such a tremendous price and why anyone would pay such a price when you can buy local from Ace Hardware for $8.99 for 4 lbs or any farm store in the country. They ship too but then you may have shipping depending on who you buy from. In fact, you can buy a 40 lb bags for less than what this Amazon seller is selling 4 lbs. if you can use that much.PS - if you want to know which products such as fungicides, miticide, and insecticides are very low, low, moderate and high toxic against bees and other pollinators like butterflies and hummingbirds — see an article written by University of Michigan called “Minimizing Pesticide Risk to Bees in Fruit Crops”. The tables are down towards the end of the article. Note sulfur is very low. It’s good to have This article handy when you get ready to buy such products. Remember if it’s high to the bees - it’s not good for you either especially if you eat honey but also in using it. Always read the MSDS sheets and the manufacturers website to make sure you know the dangers of all chemicals you use and follow directions on mixing, storing, and disposal along with using proper Personal protective equipment. We all know about PPE now don’t we.
