PERFECT FIT KEYBOARD
Really nice keyboard, fit perfectly, easily installed and functions as intended. Only hiccup was one of the threaded fastener holes was either oversized or stripped, so I was unable to install one of the tiny machine screws. All the other screws worked fine, so it's all good.

E6420 Replacement Keyboard
A few years ago I purchased a refurbished E6420 laptop through Amazon for about $100. The keyboard finally went out after years of use. Because this was purchased as a re-furbished laptop and a greatly reduced price I decided to once again turn to Amazon. This time for a replacement keyboard. The Keyboard:I went with the an after market Sunmall Replacement Keyboard because it was advertised as being compatible with the E6420 and other models. They also advertised the backlite which is a feature of the original keyboard. As advertised the replacement keyboard excluded the center keyboard finger joystick. The picture in the advertisement also made it clear that the backlite was white rather than the original amber color. For me none of those are show stoppers and the price was great. As an IT Tech having years of experience supporting this exact make and model in a corporate environment I was well versed at replacing the keyboard. The Shipment:Shipment was next day as advertised allowing a 24 hour replacement turnaround. Not bad for just in time inventory. It shipped in a suitable carboard box that provided adequate protection. The keyboard arrived undamaged.Unpackaging:Unpackaging was fast, simple and drama free. I used a box cutter to cut 3 strips of tape and opened the box that revealed the keyboard in a static free plastic protector and padded with suitable polystyrene foam. This provided just enough protection without over doing it.Appearance:The appearance was typical of the hundreds of other laptop keyboards that I have installed. By de sign they are all kind of flimsy and flexible with delicate connector cables. Everything seen was normal and anticipated. The Installation:I am not going to make the statement "Installation is easy and straight forward" because that may not be the case for someone who has never replaced a laptop keyboard Even another computer Tech who has never performed this task could cause damage to the laptop and or keyboard if not done properly. In a nutshell the steps are as follows:1. Disconnect power and remove the laptop battery.2. Remove 2 screws on the bottom of the aid in securing the keyboard.3. Use a plastic Wedge to remove the plastic insert from around the keyboard. A metal object can be used but extra care must be taken to avoid creating scratches on the laptop.4. Remove screws securing the keyboard from the top.5. Carefully lift the keyboard and note how the cables are connected to make it easy to re-connect them.6. Now disconnect the cables and replace the keyboard with the new one by reversing the processes used to disconnect the old keyboard.Test and Check:With the battery inserted and power on the keyboard came to life and functioned just as advertised. All of the keys illuminated and functioned properly.Issues:* The keys on the keyboard had gaps allowing light to shine thru.* Some of the keys would tilt when pressed and would have to be pressed to make them level. Typing performance not affected. In Conclusion:Keyboards are consumables and take a constant beating every time you use a computer. They will more than likely break prior to any other component on your computer. For this reason I never seek to pay a lot for a laptop keyboard. This purchase was no different. I purchased what I perceived as next to the lowest cost keyboard. The illuminated keys bumped it up a notch from the bottom. My expectations was a functioning keyboard with illuminated keys to replace my broken keyboard. That is what I received. Any extra features would have been icing on the cake. I received what I expected for the price that I paid. The light shinning thru the cracks in the keys was not anticipated but not surprising. The occasional tilted keys was not expected but is not a show stopper. I failed to mention earlier but this is a laptop that I was about to donate to e-waste but decided instead to resurrect it. The discrepancies noted would not prevent me from buying this keyboard in the future for the same type project but I did take away 1 star because of those 2 issues.

Perfect fit. Easy install. Thanks
Keyboard was an easy swap, no issues and the keyboard fixed a problem i didn't know I had. Opening up the laptop now and staring at a pristine lighted keyboard adds class to a boring office Dell laptop. Thanks

Good Backlight, Finicky Connectors
Backlight is great for use in dimly lit areas. Keyboard works well and touch is similar to the original. The ribbon cable connection to the mother board was finicky - numerous attempts were necessary to finally achieve keyboard operation. Not a problem with the keyboard, just the nature of small ribbon cable connections.

So far, so good
Easy to install, fit perfectly, keys have a good feel to them. Only negative is it doesn't come with the cable, and I didn't know until I installed it and fired it up to know if the problem I had was with the key board or cable. Luckily it was the keyboard, which works fine, including the backlit keys. Time will tell if it holds up.

Easy install, but be careful attaching ribbon
This installed somewhat easily, but a word of caution: be very careful pressing on the ribbon retainer. The material is extremely cheap and half of it broke off. They just dont build things as durable as in the past.

but fit just fine on the E6430
This keyboard was purchased for a Latitude E6430 with a non backlit keyboard. This keyboard comes WITHOUT a ribbon cable, so you will have to transfer your existing one over which is very simple to do. Keyboard box specified that it was for a E6420 series Latitude, but fit just fine on the E6430. This new keyboard fits and functions perfectly, even the back-lighting works on my laptop which originally did not have that feature. I have added a picture to show the new keyboard with old one side by side. Only feature about the keyboard I did not like was the difference between the "Enter" buttons as show in the uploaded picture.

It's works
I got it for my E6420, the everything works except for the display brightness buttons. Having a lit keyboard is a nice upgrade.
