Difference between Trek and Triangle
To start right off, I bought the Nathan Trek a while ago in purple, and LOVE IT. I wanted to get one for my daughter as I was always carrying her keys, and she wanted to put her iPhone in hers.OK- so I bought this Nathan Triangle AND the Trek, both in black, this time around... The reviews were very confusing on both products, so I figured I could give my husband one and my daughter the other.People are saying that there is no room to put an iPhone in this Triangle... well, I have an iPhone 4S and it DOES fit in the Triangle... the zippered pocket is gusseted and very stretchy, with a little maneuvering I was able to put my iPhone with its leather case in it. There isn't a lot of room for much else, but you could easily slide an ID in there and maybe one key.The Trek has a MUCH bigger pouch, and this black one that I bought even has a cover over the zipper for weather resistance, which my purple Trek does not.Even though the Trek advertises a slot for the headphone wire, this black Trek I bought does not have it, but my purple Trek does- I wasn't too happy about that, but on the black Trek the covered zipper doesn't easily zip all the way to the end, and leaves a perfect amount of room for the headphone wire, so that took care of that issue. The black Triangle doesn't have the headphone slot, but doesn't advertise it either. As far as limited stretch belt-both the Triangle and the Trek says that, but it really doesn't seem to stretch. Both have the ID slot/card, which I think is smart. Both have the reflective stripe.People complained that it bounces around- well they both seem to fit the same, and I found that I had to have it pretty snug to not bounce, which bothered me at first, but quickly got used to. I like how the ends of the straps can be folded all the way to the buckles and velcro'd in place- that seems to help prevent slipping- I hadn't folded the ends up snug to the buckle before, and it did slip, but was easy to pull tight. I am a plus sized woman with a very short torso, my daughter, has a long torso with a narrow waist, and our "waist" is definitely different on both of us. We just found the "sweet spot" for both of us, and are very happy with the fit. I find the back padding breathes (we sweat a LOT in the heat and humidity) and is very comfortable. My husband, also very large, has it under his belly, kinda on his hips, and it stays there. He used to use the double water carrier, and didn't like it- this will work better for him.My daughter and I hike, walk, run and are usually out for 1.5-2.5 hours every day. We each walk with our 60 pound dogs, and attach a collapsable silicone bowl to the loop that is supposed to be used to go over the mouthpiece of the water bottle -which we never used and the bottle stays in place fine, never had an issue where it bounced out. Love the angle of the bottle- I'm a lefty, but use my right hand to grab it- easy to take out and replace on the run. Same on both the Trek and Triangle.Love the bottle. When I first got it, it seemed to leak, and I found that the mouth piece was just stiff- had to push down on it to make sure it closed. It is easier to close now, the longer I've used it, and this is the first plastic water bottle I've been happy with. It is just the right amount of water for me and my dog- though at the end of a 2 hour, 10 mile run/walk on a hot humid day, it is usually empty. Both the Trek and Triangle came with the same bottle. In the end, I gave the Triangle to my husband for his hour hikes with the two little JRT's as he doesn't need the extra space in the pack for his iPhone- he wears his on his arm- pack is perfect for his keys and id and cash. My daughter had a keyring that has probably 10 keys on it with two key fobs so the larger storage of the Trek worked out better for her with keys and iPhone/case and a small bottle of bug spray. (we make our own and use a small, glass, cobalt blue spray bottle of essential oils).Having bought a purple Trek and now a black one, and seeing the difference (no headphone slot in the black) I'm wondering if there are differences within each style, depending on color, or when they were made. The Triangle, in black, was as advertised, but the picture advertising the black shows some kind of yellow loop, and mine doesn't have that.Hope this helps anyone looking to buy these. I've left this same review for both Trek and Triangle in case you only see one product or the other.

Great Pack for Endurance Training
This is the first hydration belt I have ever owned and I am really pleased with it. I take forever to decide on a purchase, and I read several reviews while I was torn between this one and the hydration pack with double flasks. I decided on this one because of the size of the pouch and the 22 oz bottle. Here's why: The pouch will easily hold any smart phone (the reviewers who say otherwise are crazy). However, I don't take my phone with me -- I'm a watch and occasionally iPod runner. The pouch holds my gels, a spare plastic bag, iPod classic (while in the armband), chap stick, and even sunglasses. All at the same time. How do I know? I was running and encountered a brief downpour and rather than stop the run, I stashed everything in the pouch and kept going. As far as I can tell, the pouch is very water-resistant; nothing was wet after my run. I can see how this will come in handy if I ever want to tackle a trail run or an ultra. :)As far as "bounce" is concerned: I've experimented with a few things. If the bottle is full, it will bounce a little against my back. I wear the pack in the middle of my waist because it holds the pack against my back the best. I tried once to wear it low on my waist, but it didn't work at all. It only works for me in the middle of my back.If the bottle is 1/2 full, it eliminates almost all bounce. Any run shorter than 90 minutes does not require me to fill the bottle all the way, so for the majority of my runs, I feel no bounce. Now that I'm beginning to train for the fall, I'll start filling it completely for my long runs. Also, I train mostly in Houston, so 1/2 of that water will end up being pored on the top of my head during the month of August anyway. Grrr. The race-caps: I've yet to have a problem. There's a little bit of "dribble" from the water, but I'd hardly call it "leakage" as some reviewers have. Again, if the bottle is 1/2 full, no problems at all. When full, it's a little dribble, but I can deal with that. It's not like I'm going to run out of water.Size: I'm relatively small (5'3", 120 lbs) but the straps are fully adjustable. There's room to go smaller or larger. The straps also have velcro bands that allow you to roll up the extra length and keep it out of the way.All in all, I love this Pack. The material is great quality, and I feel confident I could wash it. It's held up really well over the past several months, and I'm glad I chose this one. I may experiment with adding one of the small Nathan flasks to the strap so I can carry some sport drink, so I'll update if that works!UPDATE: March 2014 -- I've had the Trek for over 6 months now, and it has held up brilliantly. I can tell you that it will survive the washing machine, rain, extreme heat and humidity. There are no tears in the stitching and the zipper is working perfectly. I also added one of the small Nathan flasks to the strap so I could carry 8 oz of Gu Brew on my long run. Works like a charm. The water bottle itself has also survived many beatings, drops, dishwashers, and extreme temperature fluctuations.I won't lie, I've been really rough on this pack and it has held up its end of the bargain. If you're in the market for a slightly larger pack, I HIGHLY recommend this one. The Nathan product line has found a loyal customer in this runner!UPDATE: August 2014 -- The Trek Pack is still going! It's survived even more washes and abuse from me. Everything is still working perfectly. Even more surprising -- the water bottle! I thought I'd surely have to replace it by now, but it's still working like a charm. So glad I purchased this! Highly recommended still!!!
