The Croods [Blu-ray]

My wife and I watched this with our two daughters (6 and 13) we all loved it so we decided to buy it.

My kids and I always enjoy this movie on family night. No matter how many times I watch it "STILL ALIVE!" always makes me giggle.

Without a doubt this movie has been one of the best dreamwork movies they've ever made! I love all the hilarious humor, loved the animation, loved how they survive by following the light, adored how the light and finding tomorrow was the whole concept of them living their lives without fear because they had something to believe in. I loved all the characters personalities and how going on their journey to find tomorrow/ survive changes their concept of living/life. They beauty of the places they went were phenomenal and I love all the different type of animals and plants there were. This movie has an amazing plot and concept that enlightens me. This movie is just a very heart-felt, Heart-warming and extraordinary movie that all ages can enjoy. This Croods without a doubt is amazing!

I actually am a fully grown adult who loves watching movies like The Croods, How to Train Your Dragon, UP, and so much more...For some reason movies like these just seems better than most "adult" movies these days.Despite of it's lack of educational value, there were decent moral values about fatherhood in this movie.This is especially a good movie for dads with daughters.The monsters are all fantasy monsters that kids like to come up with or imagine. Personally, I love a good imagination. However, if anyone is looking for an dinosuar/caveman movie that is educational this is not it.I absolutely loved Sandy's character. It was a comical over-exaggeration of an young curious child with imagination. Most kids love acting out their imagination.Guy and Eep was a well done story about "young love". So, I can't complain much about it.Grug, was the hardworking overprotective dad who in the end of the movie realized there was more to life than all hard work and no play. I really liked the concept for a type of fatherhood experience. (of course there's different fatherhood techniques, experiences, and moral values) I felt it reminded me of my dad a lot actually. (He is a hardworking man, who will do anything to protect his family)I do appreciate the humor being towards the whole family, rather than just kids. I love slapstick comedy, a little bit of the humor (between Grug and Gran) and this was it for me.I do however do not give it all five stars because Thunk is just there so that they could have a son. His character missed any important role in the movie. (he may have been for comical value, but it was more of a miss)Also last and not least, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE CROCOPUP!

I'm 22 and I love cartoons. My boyfriend on the other hand, is not-so-fond of Disney, Pixar, Nickelodeon, and all of the other magnificent artsy movie creators out there. Needless to say I begged and begged to watch "The Croods" because my foster kiddos had seen it with their birth mom and quoted it CONSTANTLY. I wanted to know what all of the hype was about! And on our weekly movie-night date-night, I finally persuaded him to sit down and watch this movie.By the end, he was swallowing his own words, and definitely agreed that The Croods was one of the more hysterical movies we'd watched in quite some time. This fantastic animated movie is about a caveman family- essentially the last of their kind. The father is stuck in his 'old ways' and refuses to move on and evolve. His eldest daughter, on the other hand, strives to learn knew things. In walks a stranger boy, who not-purposely introduces the eldest daughter to "fire" and after that, everything changes. The family ends up going on a magnificent journey where they discover evolution, and even more than that- discover themselves!This movie is sweet, quirky, funny, and strewn with humor that anyone could appreciate. It has both adult and child comedy that people of all ages will enjoy. Everyone from toddlers to teens to parents will find themselves laughing out loud at some point during this fun film. All of the humor is clean, in fact the entire movie is so darn family friendly! I was so happy to find a film that just had a genuinely upbeat message to it, that wasn't too dramatic, too over-done, or too adult-oriented. The Croods was a child-appropriate film that spans it's targeted audience to fit into the hearts of people of all ages- and genders too!This movie had me smiling the entire way through, and occasionally laughing out loud. The message is a cute one, of a family learning how much they mean to each other, and how not all changes are bad changes. It's a very beautiful film that will capture the imaginations of children and the hearts of adults. I LOVE children's movies- especially ones that are sweet and innocent. This is definitely one of those movies, and I would highly recommend it to everyone- families, children, and adults alike!

It's a good family movie and you can watch it alone and be a adult and still laugh at what goes on in the movie

Good story line and excellent graphics

Beautiful on so many levels !!!!It might not be the best film out there, but it certainly is a great one which has its own comedic and adventurous moments, a movie for the whole family out there and to all those who prefer watching it in 3-D, the effects are seriously good in this film and your choice would be a valid one. Bei den Croods handelt es sich um eine sechsköpfige Höhlenmenschenfamilie. Deren Nachbarn haben bereits alle das Zeitliche gesegnet, sei es durch Mammuttritt, Mückenstich, Sandschlangen oder grippaler Infekte. Grug Crood (Originalsprecher Nicolas Cage, Deutscher Sprecher Uwe Ochsenknecht) ist daher mehr als vorsichtig und konservativ. Alles neue ist schlecht. Dunkelheit ist schlecht, Veränderungen sind schlecht, sie könnten einen grausamen, schnellen oder langsamen Tod bedeuten, wie das unlebendige Bärenjunges, das er als mahnendes Stofftier überall seiner Familie bei seinen mehr als morbiden Geschichten zeigt, eindrucksvoll beweist.Nun ist es so, dass bereits auch in der Steinzeit ganz doll die Pubertät wütet. Und so ist Eep (Originalsprecherin Emma Stone, Deutsche Sprecherin Janin Reinhardt) alles andere als begeistert, ihr ganzes Leben in einer dunklen Höhle zu verbringen. Sie ist sehr entdeckerfreudig und will nach draußen. Eines Abends, als sie ein Licht in der Dunkelheit sieht, schleicht sie sich aus der Höhle und lernt den Jungen Guy (Originalsprecher Ryan Reynolds, Deutscher Sprecher Kostja Ullmann) kennen. Er kennt das Geheimnis des Feuers, von dem Eep sofort angetan ist. Im Übrigen findet sie den Typen irgendwie auf Anhieb süß auch wenn sie teilweise etwas stürmisch vorgeht. Der erklärt ihr, dass die Welt, so wie sie sie kennt, untergehen wird. Und für einen solchen Fall gibt es keine Regeln...Der Animationsfilm mutet an, als hätte einer einen starken Drogencocktail genommen, doch dazu gleich mehr. Sicherlich kann man geschichtlich das Rad nicht neu entdecken und so wird man auch in diesem Film das Standardrepertoire altbekannter Probleme wiederfinden: Sei es nun die Fehde Schwiegersohn/-Mama, die von Cloris Leachman im Orignal gesprochen wird und die schon die überaus feindselige Oma bei "Malcolm mittendrin" gab, oder einen Vater/pubertäre Tochter-Konflikt, die all das ablehnt, was der Vater vorschlägt, aber zu allem Ja und Amen sagt, was der neue Freund sagt, auch wenn es das Gleiche sein mag. So schwelt dann auch der altbekannte Vater/Schwiegersohn in spe Konflikt. In einer Montage wird ebenfalls all das abgedeckt, das die Familie vom alten Konservativen zu neuen Ufern tritt und am Ende wird es dann etwas too much mit den ganzen Tieren.Obwohl das Rad also nicht neu entdeckt werden kann, ist dieser Film überaus witzig und kurzweilig. Und jetzt komme ich u. a. zu dem Drogencocktail. Anfangs hatte ich nicht verstanden, weshalb man nicht in der Lage war, echte einst lebende Tiere in die Geschichte einzuflechten. Stattdessen hat man durch die Bank Fabelwesen und Phantasietiere genommen, die eine Mischung aus damals echt lebenden Tieren und erdachten Tieren sind. So haben fast alle eine quitschbunte Färbung oder zusätzliche Attribute, die man anderen Tieren zugeschrieben hätte. Die Säbelzahnkatze ist plüschig und grün/gelb/blau, ein Raubtier ist ebenfalls säbelzahnartig, hat aber Kopfattribute einer Eule, Vögel haben Hörner, Wale gehen an Land usw. usf. Hier haben sich die Kreativen wirklich eine knallbunte Phantasiewelt einfallen lassen. Während der Anfang teilweise Grau und Braun gehalten ist und eine karge Steinzeitlandschaft zeigt, wird es dann superbunt. Das macht den Charme des Ganzen aus.Weiterhin ist es echt witzig, Anachronismen einzuführen. Insbesondere die Entdeckung des Schuhs und damit einhergehender Freuden-Ausraster von Frauen, wie sie teilweise aus heutigen Tagen bekannt ist, machen das Ganze extrem sehenswert. Anarcho-Gags verstehen sich mittlerweile von selbst. Diese sind ebenfalls ein absolutes Muss in neueren Animationsfilmen. Eeps Anschmachtereien und das Stoffelige des Vaters lassen mich manchmal an Spencer Tracy und all die Generationen von (Film)vätern erinnern, die die Krise bekommen, wenn ein neuer Typ da ist, der sein kleines Töchterchen abschleppen will. Die grantige Oma, dessen Ableben gar nicht früh für den Schwiegersohn genug kommen kann und mit ihren Sprüchen in jede Kerbe schlägt und für die Cloris Leachman so bekannt und beliebt ist, runden das Ganze ab.Alles in allem, ein toller Steinzeitspaß, der zu gefallen weiß und bei dem es bestimmt nicht nur bei diesem einen Teil bleiben wird.Es gibt einige Specials. So kann man sowohl auf der DVD als auch auf der Blu-ray eine dürftig gezeichnete Version von den Tagebucheinträgen von Guys Haustier ansehen, die in etwa so gehalten ist, wie der Anfang der Croods. Außerdem gibt es geschnittene Szenen, die nicht ganz fertig gestellt worden waren mit einer Einleitung der Verantwortlichen, warum es diese Szenen nicht in den Film geschafft haben. Es gibt einen Trailer und natürlich mehrere Trailer und Werbungen für andere Dreamworks Animationsfilme. Auf der Blu-ray hingegen sind ebenfalls die oben genannten Specials vorhanden, aber zusätzlich noch erzählen Eep und ihr einfältiger Bruder etwas mehr im Off über die vielen Phantasietiere während man diese zeigt. Außerdem zeigt uns der Hauptzeichner, wie man drei Charaktere zeichnet, darunter Guys Haustier, die plüschige Katze und einen Mausefanten, dem wohl putzigsten Tier im Film. Dabei ist positiv zu vermerken, dass dies für Kinder äußerst langsam gezeigt wird und der Zeichner beruhigend (auf englisch mit deutschen Untertiteln) spricht, dass das ganze Spaß machen soll und mehrmals darauf eingeht, dass es etwas Übung erfordert und es nicht schlimm ist, wenn man es nicht sofort so kann.

Excelente presentación en caja metálica con magneto removible lenticular, el único inconveniente se presenta en la versión en 3D ya que esta no cuenta con la opción de español ni tampoco con subtítulos, solo lo encuentras en la versión en 2D. Pero la pieza en su conjunto vale la pena la inversión

I first watched this movie with my family on father's day. To be honest, I wasn't expecting too much out of the movie because it seemed like it wasn't the more popular animated movies out at the time. But, as it turns out, the plot was not only interesting, but the characters really made the movie funny and enjoyable to watch. The message that I got out of the movie is the importance of fathers or father-figures in a family and how families must work together to overcome obstacles. The film reminded me that as much as my dad and I might fight and bicker, at the end of the day, he's still my old man, and he will always love me and have my back.The story is about a family of cavemen (neandrathals) who are the last of their kind who have to escape distruction to come because of the earth separating into what is now known as the continents. Along the way, they meet a homo sapien boy who helps them survive. The movie is heartwarming, and celebrates the role of fathers/father-figures in the family unit. It is a beautiful message and concept and a lot better than I thought it was going to be.
