Leather Sheath for Knife Sheath for Fixed Blade Knife (Leather 7.5 icnhes)

The media could not be loaded.  I got 2 sizes of this leather sheath the 6 inch and 8 inch for a victorinox narrow curved semi flex boning knife that I take into the field both for camping and field dressing game.I got both sizes as I had no idea what would fit as wasn't sure the measurement were blade length or total knife length or something in between. The larger 8 inch sheath fits the victorinox 160mm. The smaller sheath did not, but my wife wanted a leather sheath for her mora companion blade and the 6 inch sheath is perfect for that.Note the the sheaths as delivered are flat and not formed to suit any knife well.The idea is that you place the sheath in water and get the leather flexible and fit your knife into the sheath when wet and mold the shape of your specific knife into the leather using your fingertips. Not nails as that leaves a mark potentially but just fingertips. When the leather dries out it retains the shape of your knife and has a really good retention similar to kydex and softer less clicky insertion in my experiance.I am near the coast and therefore my blades are generally stainless so I did not need to protect them from water while wet molding and drying the leather. If your knife is carbon steel you need to protect it obviously when wet molding and remove from the sheath while drying. The drying can take upto a week and could wreck your lovely carbon steel blade.A great buy for the price.
