Grandson (and daughter) love it!
I brought this book for my 10 year old grandson for him to read of a night. He was struggling getting off to sleep and I suggested he try reading a good book before lights out as that usually works for me. My daughter and he have been taking it in turns to read before bedtime (my daughter reads it out loud to him) and they are ploughing through it and have both said they love it. I read a chapter to my grandson when he stayed over and loved the illustrations too. Great book and David Williams books are now on grandsons reading list.

Love it
Since i was a kid i’ve collected david walliams books and they've all been great. This one is no different. If you want to get your children to read more i’d 100% recommend David Walliams books they’re so funny and interesting for kids and easy to read with a few tricky words to expand their vocabulary and comprehension

Excellent
Again, another Walliams book that was a hit with my kids for bedtime stories. Never shies away from the harder parts of life but does so in a way that kids kids can handle and relate to.

What's funny in Britain doesn't always translate.
The storyline is unnecessarily harsh for sensitive readers in this age group. Mr Walliams seems to write from the perspective of a wealthy Brit who has known little hardship in his own life and overcompensates by making misery the backstory for an adventurous young character. Not for sensitive children.
