SKYPLUG GE Pierson 52" Bronze LED Indoor Ceiling Fan Technology for Instant Plug and Play Mounting

I hesitated about ordering this for a long time (and seriously considered the older 5-blade GE fan that looks very similar). I was waiting for more reviews, but finally decided to take a chance. I'm not sorry. Our fan seems well made and works fine. The light is quite bright. When on, we normally keep it on about 40-50% brightness in our family/TV room (full brightness is too bright for normal conversation or watching TV). I think the light is perfect for family/living/bedroom use. If you want it for an office that you want very bright (for reading small print or doing some sort of detailed work/hobby, then it may not be bright enough (but you'd probably be better off with a dedicated task light for that anyway). The Skyplug took a little time to understand. Be sure to try it a couple of times on a table or something before you try to install it in the ceiling. Once I understood how it worked, it was pretty easy to install and it works well. I can see that if you have a very crooked electrical box installation, then it might be difficult to get it level (but wouldn't this apply to any fan that attaches flush to the ceiling?). I suspect that most who have trouble with the Skyplug don't try it out first (pre-install) so they don't really understand how it locks in. The main plus, I think, is that you install the wiring and base without having to support the fan, and then just insert, twist, and lock in the fan after all the wiring connections, etc. are done. Regarding noise, ours is very quiet (virtually silent) on speeds 1-3. On 4 (high) there is a little sound, but I think it is just the blades moving through the air at high speed. We keep it on 3, which moves plenty of air for our room (about the same as our old 5-blade fan that it replaced). Also, we did buy an Olibra Bond unit to allow us to control it by voice commands with Alexa. That works pretty well - the only issue is that we haven't been able to get dimming to work using the Bond (but the company says they will work on it - they haven't got a specific configuration yet for this particular fan's remote).

These fans are beautiful, they are quiet when on, they give enough light. The light can be adjusted. What I do not like is that they are remote controlled. Why are so many fans remote controlled these days? Are we so lazy we can’t stand up to pull a string? These are lovely fans but 4 stars for remote only option.

blade shroud/housing not straight, fan severely out of balance, required all of the provided weights to get it not to severely wobble and the Motor has a loud humm. Additionally, a metalic "Rattling" inside the fan when it is on high, tightened everything properly, twice. Guess i'll be taking it down and returning it. Light is bright and fan looks decent though. Installation was super easy with the sky plug but not worth it for a poorly built unit. I remember when GE made good products......

Fan looks fine and runs fine until you try and reverse the fan direction, then it makes a God awful sound like it's gonna fall from the ceiling. I have paid an electrician twice to come and inspect the fan. Housing mechanism is definitely faulty as there is no directional brake on this fan when it switches direction.

Lost the remote and can't find a new one. Now I have a nice looking fan and no way to use it!

It looks good, quiet, effective, love the light and profile. It was easy to install by one person who is not handy. And the reverse is on the remote, not inside the fan. I hope to get more.

Great return policy , actually first fan sent to me didn't work I threw it out after receiving new fan , since then its been working just fine.

Pros: Light is bright, Quiet on the low speeds, nice looking designCons: The skyplug is a gimmick, called customer support and they did not know how to resolve. ISSUE: The skyplug is attached directly to the electrical box (without the ability to level). In order not to wobble, it needs to have perfect alignment with the ceiling, but really, how many electrical boxes are actually perfectly matched to the sheetrock? I got it working, but had to trial and error for hours putting door shims between the skyplug and electrical box. I would not purchase this again.
