Plug and Play
This carburettor is virtually pug and play. No adjustments necessary. My lawnmower was running very badly due to ethanol in fuel damaging the carburettor. I bought this genuine Briggs and Stratton part and fitted it in about twenty minutes. The lawnmower is restored to it’s as new performance, The carburettor is made of some kind of plastic so I hope it lasts. I note that it is a made in USA part so assume the usual quality American items are known for. Well worth the twenty two pounds I spent.

The solution to all my problems.....
After weeks of tinkering and trying to make my mower run better through the usual steps of dismantling and cleaning the carb, changing the diaphragm and gasket, cleaning the fuel tank, air filter, changing spark plug etc....none of it seemed to be totally effective so finally I decided to buy a complete new carburettor as a last resort. Once installed, hey presto the mower is now running sweet as a nut. So if you have watched all if the many advice videos on line and tried all the more obvious and simple steps already, I would definitely recommend a full carb replacement. Hope it works as well for you as it did for me.

Genuine part - recommended. Cut the frustration if a quick clean has not sorted your carb!
This is a genuine Briggs and Stratton part. I watched a load of Youtube videos on these carbs 'running too rich', 'lumpy throttle control', sooting up spark plug, 'fuel leaking', 'not sucking up fuel unless tank more than half full', 'primer bulb not sucking fuel' etc. My mower was doing all of these things. I started off cleaning the carb with carb spray and changing the diaphragm and gasket for a non genuine version off ebay. This may have made it a little worse. Making a sandwich with the diaphragm between two gaskets made minimal difference. The problem was these plastic carbs are prone to distorting with heat and time making the surface that contacts the gasket uneven. I tried flattening it a bit with a sharpening stone and that did not help. Finally using the carburettor replacement fixed all the problems. If your carburettor is distorted just get one of these!!!

Stick with original parts
After trying a few of the cheaper chinese models of this carb I have gone back to this original briggs carb, they are far better quality and better value in the long run

Sorted !
Delivery as quoted. I bought to replace an old carb. That was causing problems for a model 100902 . The part number called for 297567 (discontinued) replaced with 299448 (also discontinued). It looked the same so took the chance. Fits and Works well. ( Mountfield 46pd 2005)

Sorted elderly mower
Cleaned carb and new gaskets. Still running poorly. Purchased new Briggs and Stratton carb now sorted. Think old carb has distorted over time meaning poor seal.

Life after a near death experience
I had replaced various part on my old mower many time over the years to keep it running, but when it got to the stage where started it made to sweat more than running a marathon it was time for the scrap heap, just out of curiousity I looked on Amazon and found this new carb, best thing I did, it saved the mower from being scraped, runs like a dream again. So good to be able to get parts for old things. Too many things cant be repaired these days which is a shame when you love fixing stuff.
