Comfy reading
A really enjoyable series of cosy mysteries that are easily read in an afternoon, I did guess the solution halfway through this time so I'm hoping they aren't becoming too predictable.

Excellent series
I love this author. Just my type of novel. Excellent plots. Great, likeable main characters. Not too fast-paced.

Another good story
Another good story in the Flora Steele mystery series set in the fifties. All the usual characters and a somewhat complex plot. I did guess that the culprit was involved with the incidents affecting Flora but not that she was the guilty one until the end.

Not the best story but still enjoyable
I listened to this book on Audible; I have said this before that I don't find the narrator has a wide vocal range and sometimes she doesn't change her voice at all between characters. So often I will rewind and listen again as I am always busying myself when listening and find I have missed something.Having said that, I do like her voice, it is pleasant and I think she has captured Flora perfectly. I just wish the other characters could be a little more distinguishable. This plot was not the best in the series, I guessed the murderer very early on although it was still enjoyable as all the sub plots are very intriguing.I would like to see more pets in the stories, I am a real animal person and would love to hear how they valued pets post war, what they fed them on etc.Not the best book in the series but certainly hasn't put me off. Looking forward to Jack and Flora's French excursion.

Great Series
MURDER AT ABBEYMEAD FARMDidn’t use the term can’t unsee it in the fifties, I never heard that until recently, as a youngster growing up in the fifties never heard that expression, it’s a modern day phenomenon. The door looks as though it has been busted open. Really, not sure someone as well educated as Jack would use that phrase, busted open!!! If Winifred Ticehurst was behind the door of the wood shed when Jack and Flora broke the padlock and entered, then she must have been locked in with Piers, then who put the padlock on the outside of the door? That doesn’t make any sense.

Part of an excellent series
This book is part of a series of books which takes place in the 1950's in England. The book has an idyllic setting, charming characters, and good plots. It's a wonderful respite from our modern times. I am looking forward to the next book in the series by Merryn Allingham.

Gripping as usual...
but you can feel it is becoming more and more difficult to find new locations where Flora is going to find the next corpse somewhere in a small rural Sussex village. I am expecting the upcoming novel (situated in a French village) with mixed feelings. The pattern of the "Abbeymead Farm" novel is as usual - the prime suspect is murdered so that the hunt can start from the beginning. Solid work.
