Read Tony's newest and best book.Read every word of the Introduction. Look at the stunning photography, the exquisite, sensitive photographs of horses. You will gasp at their soulful eyes in the close-ups and the strength and grace of the horses as they gallop across the terrain. Take your time because the longer you gaze at the pictures, the more beauty you will see. Reread the Introduction, which is a treatise on what we can learn from being in the presence of horses. Tony's message will mean more to you after you have enjoyed the photographs. Tony says they speak to "the deepest layers of our hearts." He says they show us "our authentic selves," and help us "transcend the human realm and taste the divine." You will want to keep this book where you can look at it again and again. You will never tire of this most magnificent of art books.

Before buying this book I read numerous reviews on Amazon.com that gave the book 5 stars and raved about the photographs in extravagant terms. There were only 3 negative reviews of 2 or 3 stars. Given the extravagance of positive reviews, I decided the 3 negatives ones must be by cranks. To be sure, I visited Mr. Stromberg's website where I saw truly fantastic horse photography. And I read his comments that Horse Medicine was a collection of his best. That did it for me. I bought the book, from Amazon.ca, as a Christmas gift for a friend. When it arrived, I saw I should have listened to the cranks. There were indeed a few very good photographs, and quite a few more that were good; but there were also an inexplicable number of photographs of the back end or just the tail or mane of a horse. Many other photographs of horse parts. There was at least one that was blurry -- and not in an artful way. And photographs that were almost the same. I was so disappointed I would not give the book as a gift and returned it. I had to quickly find another gift for my friend.

Tony Stromberg is my long time favorite stalk on Facebook. He does wonderful photography clinics and I hope to one day join him on one of his adventures to Morocco or Spain to photograph warmbloods. When he came out with this book I ordered it the same day and was in love with it. There's new images in it I haven't seen on his website or on his Facebook page. Tony Stromberg captures horses like no one else I've ever seen. And truthfully he's been picked as one of the top world photographers of equines. Pick up his book if you are a horse lover or want to give a horse lover a book. You won't regret it. This huge book is just simply very well crafted and worth every penny.

I keep looking for excuses to sneak away and curl up with this lovely book. Each photo conveys aspects of the horse with subtlety, nuance and an intimate appreciation for individual horses and for the relationships between horses. Tony Stromberg is a master of light and framing. He also loves horses. The gift-giving season is just beginning, but I am sure this will be my favorite gift – that is unless someone presents me with an actual horse!
