Good buy especially for the price .Works pretty well and connects quickly . Very easy to set up just plug and play. Compact and portables you can carry it where ever in your bag. In case you are hoping to use this on a tv it wont work and it was made for computer with driver software.

I'm very pleased with this drive and how easy it is to use. It was immediately recognised by both my Windows 10 Samsung laptop and Windows 11 Lenovo Desktop with no need for any additional drivers to be loaded. So true plug and play support. Both my laptop and desktop also provided enough power to the drive from a single USB 2 or USB 3 connection and so there was no need to provide any additonal power. It is however extremely useful that a external power cable has been provided in the box which would allow you provide a separate power source for the drive which might be prudent when writing large amounts of data to a CD or DVD to minimise the possibility of device disconnections if it draws more power than the single USB port on your device can deliver. In terms of discs, it has happily read my music CDS, retail data CDs for software installation without any compatability issues too. So it perfectly meets my requirements for a portable CD/DVD drive as most laptops and devices no longer come with optical drives these days. It feels quite robust and rigid and so I would expect it to be quite durable when transporting about in my laptop bag with my other devices. It also isn't overly heavy so doesn't add a great deal of weight in my bag. It has got four little rubberised feet on the base which helps it grip on shiny surfaces such as a desk and helps minimise any vibrations whilst the discs are being read. In terms of the casing, the finish seems ok for the price too with a matt underside, shiny sides and a sort of brushed diamond effect top which catches the light in quite a pleasant way. All in all this is just what I was looking for and for quite reasonable price.

This actually feels like quite a solid drive, the case is fairly thick plastic. I just plugged it into my USB3.0 port with the cable provided and it worked just fine (Windows 10). Instructions are so small they are pretty useless! I believe you use the single cable with either the USB type A *OR* USB type C to connect to the drive. If there isn't enough power from the single cable, connect the second USB type A to the tiny power jack to increase the power. I could be wrong, that's what the instructions implied. Mine worked with just the single cable.

Very useful for reading CDs and DVDs, burnt or original. It can be powered & connected via USB-C or it has a USB-A connector that can be used. Comes with USB-A to power connecction if required which is handy. The product works well, it is fast, reasonably quiet, and I had no problem using it on my Mac without requiring any drivers. Once a disc is put in it I can see it as available. Very easy to use, fast at reading, ejects when you press the button or eject it from the OS, it is lightweight, and very compatible.

AS MOST NEW LAPTOPS DON'T HAVE ANY OPTICAL DRIVE, I NEEDED TO FIND AN EXTERNAL USB DVD DRIVE TO USE. I PURCHASED THIS ANTIKA USB OPTICAL DRIVE BECAUSE IT OFFERS EVERYTHING THAT I NEED AND COMES SUPPLIED WITH ALL RELEVANT CABLES, INCLUDING ONE THAT YOU CAN PLUG INTO A SUITABLE MAINS ADAPTER (NOT SUPPLIED) TO PROVIDE EXTRA POWER, ONLY REQUIRED IF YOUR LAPTOP CANNOT PROVIDE ENOUGH POWER BY JUST USING THE USB CABLE SUPPLIED. I LIKE THE FACT THAT ONE CABLE IS A USB C CONNECTION, WHICH I USE. NO ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE IS REQUIRED IN ORDER FOR THIS DRIVE TO WORK. IT WAS SET UP VERY QUICKLY AND FUNCTIONS PERFECTLY, TIU CAN USE BOTH DVD DISCS AND CD ROMS. GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY AND IT LOOKS GREAT TOO! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING THIS DRIVE.

This is possibly the most frustrating piece of equipment I have ever owned. When the drive actually decides to work, it's fine - I mean, it's a DVD player, pretty simple right? Well, half of the time my Mac doesn't recognize the drive, even when using the additional external power source. The main connector cable has both USB 2.0 and USB C connectors. I have tried both (Mac has only USB C inputs so I used an adaptor to trial the old USB connector). Both methods of connection are unreliable. It's such a shame that it only works sometimes. Would expect such a rubbish piece of kit to be a lot cheaper. UPDATE: changed review to one star only a few days after writing the initial review because now the drive won't work at all. It was making strange noises and caused my Mac to restart three times before stopping working altogether.

Well packaged and all arrived in good condition. Pretty much a plug and play. Basic but it works well.
