I love this thumb protector for my alto clarinet! My thumb was in pain and developing a callous along the nail from my alto clarinet thumb rest. And at the end of a rehearsal or concert my thumb would be deeply indented. Oh woe!! Something had to be done! I found these and my thumb is pretty sure it has died and gone to heaven where pain and tears are no more!I can now play a two-hour rehearsal and my thumb is fine.Also, when I double on bass clarinet, the Nubs does not interfere with that at all.I measured at 23mm and ordered a medium. It is very comfortable.I highly recommend these for any woodwind where the thumb rest is causing problems.

I play my clarinet often and I think the biggest issue is the soreness on my right thumb after playing for an hour or so. This thumb protector makes a big difference. I also use a little rubber attachment on the thumb rest piece on my clarinet and the combination eliminates the soreness problem. I liked mine so much I bought two more for friends and they like this thing too. We are all women and all like the size Large.

I was waiting to break this in over practices and during the parades. I think this was a helpful item for a bass clarinet player in combination with a proper harness. I wore it several times over the season and it was comfortable by the time I did the Starlight and Grand Floral Parades. It provided support without being too tight or moving around a lot. I used to modify corn pads and rubber fingers for this so it was nice to have a product specifically for thumb support. I did not cut mine at all. I broke it in (it was a little stiff at first) and did have to push it down to make sure it was in proper place to make it worthwhile. I would like to see if there is one that would also fit my index finger as that also gets pretty dented from holding 20 pounds of clarinet. I used something I found at Walgreens that I cut down so my knuckle could still bend. By the way, it's a good idea to put it on before you've played half your gig/rehearsal as you thumb can swell and it makes it harder to get on at fit right. Put it on right away and it should be fine as you have broken it in to that point.

I only thought I was getting one but I received TWO in the pack which was great. I started playing oboe again after a 20+ year break and my achy hands have been my greatest challenge. This thumb protector helps so much. It's comfy, easy to put on and protects my thumb and nail. I wish we had these 20 years ago.

The product slips off easily and I think it be lost in daily activities. That may because I forget that it is on my thumb. It works as expected but I wouldn't buy it again because the price doesn't equal the value.

Does what it's supposed to do. My daughter complained of finger pain. Now a thing of the past.

I have tried a few different thumb protectors and cushions. All were money wasted, as the rubber ones slip right off your thumb rest within a minute or two of putting them on. This protector is a completely different concept. It actually fits on your thumb and not your instrument. It therefore " stays put!". No pun intended, but thumbs up to that!What I was a bit disappointed in was that there is not really a size chart when ordering, so you have to guess. I ordered the largest (being an adult male) that I could order. When I got it, it was on the verge of almost being too small and not fitting at all. I am hoping that with some wear, it will give a bit or stretch some to be more comfortable.Still, all in all, I would order again. This has been the best thumb protector I have found anywhere, on line or in a store!Keep the music flowing people!

I purchased the Nubs thumb protector because lately, I've experienced irritation and pain from the pressure of my horns. I play soprano, alto, and tenor saxophones. The combined effect of the weight of the heavier horns along with the angle necessary to hold the soprano causes friction as well as pressure while playing. It's distracting and the Nubs thumb protector eliminated the rubbing and cushioned my thumb such that my focus is on playing and not so much on preventing pain while doing so! I love the product and it performs up to expectations. I think anyone who performs often will benefit from this product. The fit was fine and I like the compression effect. The medium works well for me and as stated in the accompanying literature, the fit becomes more comfortable with time. I appreciate the initial snugness because the fabric will slowly stretch over time. Again, the Nubs thumb protector is well worth the price as it provides peace in the form of pain protection!

De duimbescherming voldeed helemaal niet. Als je deze nu aanhebt of niet de druk op de duim bleef hetzelfde.

ich hab den Schutz jetzt schon ein paar Monate und bin vollauf zufrieden. Die erstmalige Anbringung ist etwas aufwändiger, hierfür bin ich zu meinem Klarinettendoc. Doch jetzt spiele ich ermüdungsfrei und die Bewegungen sind überhaupt nicht eingeschränkt. Für mich hat sich der Kauf gelohnt.

It's not as thick as I would have expected for thumb protection but still good value for money.

Ce manchon (livré par paire) m'apporte un gain de confort appréciable pour jouer du saxo alto; la matière ressemble à du néoprène. Mon pouce mesure 27mm au plus fort; la taille M le serrait trop; je l'ai échangé pour la taille L, qui convient. Les coutures paraissent solides.
