San Pablo Tall Bird Large Multi Size Cage

We have got budgies for the first time. After looking online, in petshops and speaking to friends with birds I purchased this cage. Our 2 budgies have been with us for 2 months now and I am really pleased with this cage. It was straightforward to put together, it is sturdy and has strong clips attaching the bottom tray to the cage wire. I love the 4 small and 2 medium doors that allow easy, safe access for fitting the (supplied) food feeders and tidying up the cage; plus it has 2 large doors that allow the birds easy exit and entrance when they are having a fly around the living room. It came with a swing which our birds love. I was worried that being long, rather than wide would mean the birds spent most of their time at the top of the cage, but no - they are happy to hop down to the bottom to their bath or to scratch around the sandpaper and grit, and they can then have a good flap up to the top again, giving their wings a stretch before proper flight time in the evening.All in all, very pleased and great value.

Not assembled and no instructions! fortunately very easy to put together. Great for a number of birds, I have a cockateil and two budgies with plenty of space for them and probably more, though I am happy with my three :)

Well, all was going fine until yesterday when one of our 2 budgies managed to lift the pin that holds one of the 2 main doors shut. We were out - both birds got out and were eaten by our pet cat. My 5 year old boy discovered them; one of which had all its insides eaten with just the head and feet remaining. Not happy at all. If anyone buys this item do so at your own risk and ensure that under no circumstances are the birds allowed to move or lift things. We realised quite quickly that the birds could lift the drop doors and promptly put wire ties on these. We never thought for one minute that they would be able to pull the pin up on the main door.Extremely disappointed. Not the cats fault as they don't know any differently. Lost 2 lovely budgies because of inadequate design.
