Very Cool Old School.
Bought this in a moment of nostalgia. My dad's hunting/hiking knife was from this series. The black phenolic and aluminum handles excell in both form and function. Very good steel for real life use. Wicked sharp right out of the box. Very nice high quality leather sheath. Comfortable and nimble in the hand.A lot of value for the money. And made in the USA!Delighted with my purchase.

Buck Quality
I have been a fan of Buck Knives since I used one of my grandfather's Buck pocket knives to cut string. Though neither of us hunt, I bought a 112 Ranger a while back due to the classic look with the ebony and brass handle. I really wanted to add one of the fixed blades to my collection as well, and the 117 Brahma seemed to be a perfect size. It comes sharp out of the box and with a nice leather sheath. My only gripe is sometimes the knives have some machining residue from the factory, but that cleans up with a rag so it's not a huge issue. For the money, you get an American made blade with classic design.

Love this little knife!
This is a great size for everyday outdoors carry. Not to big, not too small, Goldilocks right. Came VERY sharp out of the box and only took a little fine honing to get it scary-sharp. Handle feels great in my large-size hands, and is very comfortable to hold. Sheath is also typical Buck, good quality and holds securely when snapped. I expect it will hold up well, as is typical of USA-made products in the Buck line, and am very happy with my purchase. I call this my mini-General, and have carried it daily for work (Land Surveying) since I got it. I love the classic look and feel, as the full size model 120 General was my first “real knife” purchase as a kid in the eighties, and this little 117 touched a very nostalgic nerve for me. This has the same proportions, just scaled down to a more reasonable size. The only downside is the price, just a little more than I’d like at $75. $60 would be perfect, $65 still reasonable. The Pro version with upgraded micarta handle and S35VN steel would already be in my cart if it were priced at $130. I guess inflation has hit everywhere, thanks Joe!

The best knife I have ever purchased.
This Buck knife is far superior than any of those cheap imports. It arrives razor sharp and is very well made. Made in the good old USA, Buck knives have become part of America’s Heritage.

Buck 117
It's a Buck. Does anything else really need to be said? Very comfortable in the hand. Very well balanced. Good weight and sturdiness to it.

Awesome Knife
Although Buck’s quality control can be dicey at times, this knife had no issues and was razor sharp. Love the sheath as well. A great value for an American-made production knife. Highly recommended.
